[arch-general] Cannot receive files via bluetooth

Hello, it seems some bluetooth has overwritten my bluetooth main.conf, as last change has been on September, 26th. Also, I cannot receive files any more, so I guess, I'd cahnaged sth. there. Unfortunately, I cannot remember, what changes I'd made in the past. :-( Could You probably tell me, what might cause the non-functioning file transfer? Sending files works, btw. Kind regards Peter

[arch-general] Cups upgrade leaves broken link in multi-user.target.wants: cups.path -> /usr/lib/systemd/system/cups.path

Devs, I don't know which recent Cups upgrade changed the systemd service name for 'cups.path' to 'org.cups.cupsd.path' without removing the old link when the new package upgrade is performed. This leaves multi-user.target.wants with a broken link, e.g.: $ l1 /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/ avahi-daemon.service cronie.service cups.path <--- old link --- dhcpd4.service dovecot.service httpd.service iptables.service lm_sensors.service mysqld.service named.service 'netctl@rlf_network\x2dstatic.service' nmbd.service ntpd.service nut-server.service org.cups.cupsd.path <--- new link --- postfix.service remote-fs.target smbd.service spamassassin.service sshd.service vsftpd.service Do I just need to unlink the old broken link? All, First let me explain I have search through the forums, StackExchange site (SuperUser & Linux Unix StackExhange) and read the problems with similar title, 90% of which were USB install and related to failure to have the proper iso name (e.g ARCH_201603) as the image name, the other 10% were related to /dev/disk/by-label not being created and suggest the creation of the directory and symlink of the install device (e.g. /dev/sr0 to /dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201603) and exiting the maintenance shell to have the install pickup and continue. Neither of these are a solution. I have one Supermicro server (similar but slightly older) where the install went without issue (H8QM8-2 w/4 Opteron 8360SE). This server is the H8DME-2-LS006 Rev 1.10 w/2 Opteron 8382 processors. (specs: http://www.supermicro.com/Aplus/motherboard/Opteron2000/MCP55/H8DME-2.cfm) Initially, the boot would hang during pci activation with the line pci 000:00:1a.0: [1a:1e:1100] type -- class 0x060000 I reset the bios to the failsafe defaults, still no joy. The Hardware Detection Tool showed a 3Leaf Systems, Inc.|unknown device at that address, the details of which were: Vendor : 3Leaf Systems, Inc. Product : unknown Class : Host bridge Location : 00:1a.0 PCI ID : 1a1e:1100[0000:0000] Latency : 0 Module : unknown Looking though all the bios options, trying one at a time, I found an option for something related to AQUA (? This board an AQUA were apparently the brainchild of 3Leaf, Inc. now out of business http://www.eetimes.com/document.asp?doc_id=1172150 which allowed you to link 32 Opteron processors into a single server) So disabling AQUA completely in the bios allowed the box to boot normally all the way though: :: running hook [archiso_pxe_nfs] :: Mounting '/dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201603' to '/run/archiso/bootmnt' Waiting 30 seconds for devices.... then the error and I'm dropped to the maintenance shell (e.g. [rootfs /]# ). I've tried the solutions shown at the beginning but I still can't proceed with the remainder of the install. When I create the /dev/disk/by-label directory, create the symlink, and exit the maintenance shell, I get the following error: Buffer I/O error on dev sr0 logical block 0, async page read sr 6:0:1:0 [sr0] tag#0 UNKNOWN(0x2003) Result:hostbyte-0x00 driverbyte=0x08 sr 6:0:1:0 [sr0] tag#0 Sense Key : 0x4 [current] sr 6:0:1:0 [sr0] tag#0 ASC=0x8 ASCQ=0x3 sr 6:0:1:0 [sr0] tag#0 CDB: opcode: 0x28 28 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 02 00 blk_update_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 0 isofs_fill_super: bread failed, dev=sr0, iso_blknum=16, block=16 So I need help from the smart folks here. I'm not entirely sure what this error is telling me other than there is some UNKNOWN result that prevents the archiso mount. With this AQUA setting completely disabled in the bios, I don't know if this error is related to that setting, but I suspect it is. What could I try to get past this error? Is there some kernel parameter I coud try to pass at boot that might help? Has anyone else seen this or found another solution? Thanks for any advise you can give.. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

Hello, Since today's update installing qt5-webengine-5.7.0-4-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz, no mail content can be viewed in kmail. Reverting to 5.7.0-3 restores normal functioning. [arch-general] How to set up a virtual network / NAT for libvirt?

Hello, I've been told that I cannot bridge multiple networks using WLAN (as WDS would not have been implemented correctly on all devices), but I've to use a virtual network, brobably with NAT, but I cannot find sufficient advice, neither in the arch wiki nor on the internet - probably just my search terms are incorrect, I don't know. Could You give me advice, what I've to do to get internet access on my QEMU/Windows VM? Default networking does'nt work. Kind regards Peter

I have asked the Manitainer of f2fs-tools about an upgrade from 1.6.1 to 1.7.0 but he cant do it because f2fs-tools 1.7.0 needs libselinux and that package is only in AUR repo: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/libselinux/ I hope im right now here to report this. greetings Thomas

[arch-general] PXE - what goes in /srv/tftp if iso mounted loop on /mnt/archiso?

All, I've played with setting up a PXE boot server, using dhcpd, apache and tftp. (all on the same box) I've been through the archwiki PXE and Diskless_system wiki pages (as well as a dozen other howtos) and I'm still confused about whether I need to copy parts of the iso to /srv/tftp or whether I can just point to the pxelinux.0 on the iso mounted at /mnt/archiso? E.g. the file now at /mnt/archiso/arch/boot/syslinux/lpxelinux.0 Can I just symlink, e.g. # ln -s /mnt/archiso/arch/boot/syslinux/lpxelinux.0 /srv/tftp/pxelinux.0 Or is there a reason I need to copy files to /srv/tftp and create /srv/tftp/pxelinux.cfg along with the various options? I would like it to be able to boot EFI and legacy (both i686 and x86_64), which is currently handled by the setup on the iso. Which brings me to the final question about the "filename" to pass in dhcpd.conf. The arch PXE wiki shows: if option architecture = 00:07 { filename "/grub/x86_64-efi/core.efi"; } else { filename "/grub/i386-pc/core.0"; } which appears to be for a setup with the files copied under /srv/tftp/grub... The current iso does not use that. Would I instead pass for example: /EFI/boot/bootx64.efi and then for legacy boot one of the vmlinuz specified by another option in dhcpd.conf, or would simply passing a single filename of pxelinux.0 select the right config under /mnt/archiso? All of the examples/tutorials, seem to do it differently from each other. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
