[arch-general] Bridge interface with netctl

Dear list, I am messing with assigning a static IP on a systemd-nspawn container, on both sides (host,container). My idea is to first create a bridge (br0) on the host. Shall I enable a "ethernet-dhcp" netctl profile and disable dhcpcd.service ? Thank you for help.

[arch-general] Any way to change .PKGINFO post build w/o Rebuilding?

All, I patched tdebase for the logind-multiseat patch as was applied to kde-workspace for Arch kde4. Doing so, I forgot to change the provides= replaces= information. Now the new package will not install due to every file conflicting with an existing file. The new file is named 'tde-tdebase-systemd' and it replaces a package named 'tde-tdebase'. Can I decompress the package and manually edit the .PKGINFO file and then recompress the file and have it work? The package is unsigned if that makes any difference. All the time when gfortran is bumped version, all fortran modules (file with .mod extensions) in other packages must be recompiled because module definitions are changed in the new compiler gfortran. [arch-general] nano syntax highlighting doesn't work

Hi, I don't know how to get syntax highlighting for nano, when I start it from the Jwm menu. Now I run [rocketmouse@archlinux ~]$ grep nano .jwmrc <Program label="Nano">roxterm --maximize -T Nano -e nano</Program> and syntax highlighting doesn't work. If I run nano in roxterm by [rocketmouse@archlinux ~]$ nano /etc/fstab the highlighting (~/.nanorc) takes effect, but if I run [rocketmouse@archlinux ~]$ nano and then read /etc/fstab I don't get syntax highlighting. If the below option should be related to the highlighting, then I don't understand how to use it. [arch-general] libreoffice-writer upgrade

After the latest writer upgrade (version 4.2.1-1), lowriter fails to run. I get the following error message when trying to start it from a console. /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libtubeslo.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I've googled the missing library and had no luck finding it and I've found no other bug reports any where. Downgrading to libreoffice-writer-4.1.5-1 cures the problem. Sorry for the noise. Myra -- Life's fun when your sick and psychotic!

[arch-general] NetworkManager 0.9.8.8-2 does not work with systemd 208

After my last upgrade I noticed that the NetworkManager service was failing. The error message was that NetworkManager could not load because it couldn't find libsystemd.so.0. I'm running systemd 208-11. The unified systemd library is in 209, irrc. Systemd 209 isn't available in core yet, but nevertheless, the dependencies in NetworkManager should have been updated. Solution to the problem is to force NetworkManager to 0.9.8.8-1.

Depending on our objective - privacy, disaster recovery, or merely mucking about with a Chromebook without nuking its internal drive - we might not need the live capability. Comments? -Hugo
