[arch-general] What about nvidia drivers 275.28 and Xorg 1.11 ?

Hello. As I am using testing and a nVidia graphic card, I had to use NouVeau in order to get xorg 1.11 working. I saw that a new driver was released, fixing the compatibility problem, nvidia 275.28 : http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=166025 Any tests going on it ? [arch-general] ejecting after cdparanoia

I just used cdparanoia (for the very first time) and I tried to eject the CD by pressing the button. Nothing happens. I can eject the CD with "eject /dev/sr0", so it's not really a big problem. I just wonder whether this behavior is normal. I'm used to cdda2wav (from cdrtools), and it never happened, that I recall. Note that cdparanoia ended normally ( and successfully, BTW). I run it with speed 1. Hello, TeXLive 2011 has been officially released. Packages in [testing] have been updated to reflect this. * biblatex-biber is not packaged and depends and a whole lot of Perl packages. You can find it on AUR, or some for some developer to package it and its dependencies * eptex format generation fails, I don't understand how to fix it, so if anyone has an idea... Rémy.

[arch-general] imagemagick and calibre have problems with libtool in testing

Not sure this warrants a bug report but here's what happened. I'm running testing repositories and building my own packages, after I upgraded libtool last night calibre would not start. Did crtl + alt + F1 to read the error message and found this -- imagemagick cannot load libltdl.so.7. This prevented calibre from running. Solution was to rebuild imagemagick against the new libltdl installation then rebuilt calibre (possibly and unneeded step but did it anyway). Everything works fine now. Just thought I would pass this on in case anyone else has the same problem. Myra -- Life's fun when your sick and psychotic!

Hi, I'm having trouble using my public samba share. The server setup is following (some lines omitted) ... security = user map to guest = Bad User unix extensions = no [public] path = /srv/samba comment = Public Share public = yes browsable = yes available = yes writable = yes and this is related part of the fstab on the client. //lada/public /mnt/samba cifs gid=network,dir_mode=0770,file_mode=0770,noauto,password=none,workgroup=PRIVAT 0 0 Basically it works but when i transfer some larger file, after a couple of minutes, i get the input/output error. This is all i've found in log files. /var/log/samba/192.168.2.218.log [2011/09/12 19:44:05.305132, 0] smbd/process.c:244(read_packet_remainder) read_fd_with_timeout failed for client 0.0.0.0 read error = NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_RESET. [2011/09/12 19:44:19.687109, 0] smbd/process.c:244(read_packet_remainder) read_fd_with_timeout failed for client 0.0.0.0 read error = NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_RESET. I'm not sure but it seems to me this is caused by the client side ? I've tried to enable unix extensions and simplify mount options but it didn't help either. [arch-general] no desktop: howto change default browser?

Hi, when using eg. "evince" to view a PDF document, links open in "epiphany", which seems to be a gnome default browser. I need to change this, but all the links the <search engine> comes up with hint at using menus like "system -> ... -> browser". I only run a window-manager, no desktop, so there's no such thing as a "system" menu entry. I have used "gconf-editor", added the directory chain "~/.gconf/desktop/gnome/url-handlers/{http,https}" with keys "command" -> 'firefox "%s"', "enabled" -> ticked, "needs_terminal" -> not-ticked, but these settings don't help. Does somebody know how to change the setting for default-browser when no desktop is used? clemens
