I was working on something that is like quarters. I called it absbb (or ABS Build Bot). I was trying to make a build like slitaz<http://www.slitaz.org/>has for there distro but for arch. I used makerepo to help with making the packages once in chroot. I have not looked at it in a few months since i was busy trying to make slitaz better and updated. https://github.com/godane/devtools-pkgbuild/tree/archbb Also there is archbb script that was just my attempt to combined all of devtools into one big script. That didn't get any auto build bot feature into it. I hope this helps. Also +1 for TU. PS I started releasing my livecd again at http://godane.wordpress.com.

[aur-general] Ocaml Packages

I am looking at the state of the ArchLinux Ocaml packages. I am trying to update a number of them and I am trying to build a number of ocaml applications, but there are many incosistencies. The main problem is that there are ocaml packages that build with findlib and without findlib, and they place the development libs in different places. Also I have found a few packages that install libs in the findlib dir AND in the ocaml dir. The two directories are : findlib: /usr/lib/ocaml/site-lib non-findlib: /usr/lib/ocaml Other distributions with more developed ocaml support, such as fedora and Debian/Ubuntu have chosen to use findlib for all packages and they all install to the /usr/lib/ocaml dir. So I am proposing for discussion, that we look into repairing the ocaml packages to all use findlib and to install everything into /usr/lib/ocaml. Then we can have some peace on the ocaml front and we can do away with the complications in the AUR with ocaml packages. I have adopted the ocaml-findlib package and a number of them have been orphaned, (which I am picking up) but I wanted to run this by the TUs and other AUR devs before I really considered revamping the ocaml landscape in the AUR. -Thanks -Thomas S Hatch

[aur-general] Audio plug-ins name convention

Hi all! I'm packaging some audio plug-ins and I wanted to know if there is any naming convention to this, as with fonts. Since there are different formats (LADSPA, LV2, DSSI and VST), if we follow the convention used with fonts (like ttf-xxxxx), we will get: lv2-xxxxx dssi-xxxxx ladspa-xxxxx vst-xxxxx It makes sense?

Hello TUs, please remove "xbmc-svn" (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=20156) as it is now succeeded by xbmc-git (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=45036) Also please remove the unmaintained xbmc skins: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?O=0&K=xbmc&do_Orphans=Orphans&detail=… All the skins in the AUR aren't needed anyway, because skins use now the add-on interface and are now installed locally through xmbc. I'd like to request that offlineimap-git be orphaned. - Current PKGBUILD points to old repository - I've tried to contact the current maintainer via email (listed address is a dead .edu account) and via twitter with no luck. Last attempt was over two weeks ago. - I have already posted a preliminary PKGBUILD (see links below) and am ready to submit it. [aur-general] mc script cleanup

Deprecated for years. https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=22236 Slavz (from Slava Zanko) was the name of the above mentioned fork. He now leads the mc development team. Script doesnt use the forgotten forks sources but its uneeded since its the same as the package in extra only noone maintains it. https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=14644 The utf-8 patch has been incorporated in mc since the early recent releases. It had also been part of the slavz fork. https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=9065 A fork of the old unmaintained mc. It added some features to it, but now has been superseeded by the recent releases of mc under the new management. Definitely deprecated, no release in more than six years. -- Greg
