[aur-general] TU's invalid key on repos.archlinux.org

Hi, My key was to expire on October 20th but I extended the date last minute. Since then when I try to update fzf / udiskie in [community], I get an error about invalid signatures. [aur-general] Confusing situation with python-crontab vs python-crontab2

Hi, there seem to be two packages for python-crontab: - python-crontab: https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/python-crontab/ - python-crontab2: https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/python-crontab2/ The same is true for the appropriate python2-* packages. The version without the appended 2 are orphaned and no longer maintained. To make things less confusing I would strongly argue to merge these packages (i.e. delete that latter one(s) and adopt the former one). Ideally tadly, the maintainer of the *-crontab2 packages should do this for himself, but if he is no longer interested in maintaining these packages I would adopt them for myself. Hi people, I'm trying to update python2-faulthandler to 3.0. I've created the AUR package 2 years ago and I cannot find it anylonger at https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/python2-faulthandler and when I try to push the update I have an error message: python2-faulthandler $ git push remote: error: package already provided by []: python2-faulthandler remote: error: hook declined to update refs/heads/master To ssh://aur.archlinux.org/python2-faulthandler.git ! Hi all, Looking for a bit of help with two new python packages I uploaded to AUR. Packages in question are python-root_numpy & python-hep_ml. So I think I've done the PKGBUILDs correctly, but when I run namcap on the packages I get warnings about unneeded dependencies included and specifically for hep_ml I get warning about not including any ELF files but not labelling it as 'any' platform. My issue is that I have included only dependencies that are listed by the package developers, but I still have namcap complaining. Also, I thought we weren't not supposed to label packages as 'any'. [aur-general] When to make a separate package.

Hi! I just started playing around with making my own PKGBUILDs and just made one for the "*remarkable*" markdown editor. The problem with *remarkable* is that it uses webkitgtk. I was able to find a PR to the official project fixing this and I used this patch in my PKGBUILD. I uploaded the packet as *remarkable-webkit2gtk*. I'm now rethinking if this was the correct approach or if I should have just adopted the existing packet. (Which is orphaned.) My thought was that since the patch have not been incorporated into the official project, I shouldn't taint the pure *remarkable* package. Am I being overconsiderate? In general is this something people care about? Regards, Mikael

[aur-general] Can my AUR package be reinstated?

Hi all, The TU "alad" deleted my package, firefox-clean, from the AUR. I'm assuming this is a mistake, but I can't contact alad directly because their email is hidden on their profile. At first glance, it may appear that my version of the Firefox PKGBUILD in Extra does not do anything notable, but this is not the case. My package is intended to do three things: 1. Set sensible default options that most users will want in the first place. 2. Eliminate *at compile time* code that is not web-browser related (e.g. Pocket). 3. Fix pain points for power users with small, maintainable patches. (e.g. inclusion of a restart button in the file menu) At least items 2 and 3 cannot be done with adjustments to user.js, as the deletion request claims. I don't claim that many people will want to use it, but for those who might, having a package in the AUR to use could save a considerable amount of work. Inclusion in the AUR has never been dependent on the number of users the package benefits, and so far as I can see, firefox-clean doesn't break any rules. Can I recreate the package, or can it be reinstated? Thanks! -Adam Fontenot
