I just removed the last dependency on it (makedepend from pulseaudio). As far as I know gcc >= 4.1 has its own support for atomic ops and doesn't need this library.

[aur-general] Rebuild community/skype-call-recorder

The `skype-call-recorder' package in the `community' repository simply needs to be rebuilt. The current binary fails to run because it cannot load `libpng12' (which no longer seems to exist officially and is indeed not required by skype-call-recorder). -------------------- The following may be of interest to the developer of skype-call-recorder (who has been added to the Bcc list out of respect for a seemingly keen interest for remaining private). Interestingly, after rebuilding skype-call-recorder, the output of this command (which gives the direct shared library dependencies): readelf -d `which skype-call-recorder` | awk -F'[][]' '/NEEDED/ {print $2}' went from this: libmp3lame.so.0 libid3-3.8.so.3 libvorbisenc.so.2 libQtGui.so.4 libpng12.so.0 libSM.so.6 libICE.so.6 libXrender.so.1 libfreetype.so.6 libfontconfig.so.1 libXext.so.6 libX11.so.6 libQtDBus.so.4 libdbus-1.so.3 libQtXml.so.4 libQtNetwork.so.4 libssl.so.0.9.8 libQtCore.so.4 libz.so.1 libgthread-2.0.so.0 libglib-2.0.so.0 librt.so.1 libpthread.so.0 libdl.so.2 libstdc++.so.6 libm.so.6 libgcc_s.so.1 libc.so.6 libvorbis.so.0 libogg.so.0 to this: libmp3lame.so.0 libid3-3.8.so.3 libvorbisenc.so.2 libQtGui.so.4 libQtDBus.so.4 libQtNetwork.so.4 libQtCore.so.4 libstdc++.so.6 libm.so.6 libgcc_s.so.1 libc.so.6 libvorbis.so.0 libogg.so.0 More interesting is that even some of these aren't actually direct dependencies; the output of this command: ldd -u `which skype-call-recorder` is this: Unused direct dependencies: /usr/lib/libmp3lame.so.0 /usr/lib/libid3-3.8.so.3 /usr/lib/libvorbisenc.so.2 /usr/lib/libQtNetwork.so.4 /lib/libm.so.6 /usr/lib/libgcc_s.so.1 /lib/libc.so.6 /usr/lib/libvorbis.so.0 For instance, I imagine that `libc' is listed as unused because skype-call-recorder is actually a C++ program that only depends directly on `libstdc++'. [aur-general] any rules for groupadd in .install files?

hi, it happens that i'm the current maintainer of the go-hg[1] package in aur. currently the package installs in /opt/go. go has nice support for installing third-party packages (goinstall), but it's a security risk for people to goinstall these third-party libraries as root. installing the gofiles with group 'go' and setting sgid bit for all (or only affected) directories this security flaw could be avoided (or at least reduced). so my question is: are there any rules or policies for packages, that call groupadd in the .install files? i saw that extra/qemu-kvm adds the group kvm with gid 78, so is there somewhere a list with `available' gids? do you have any other/better idea how to face the problem? thank you very much in advance! cheers, chressie [1]: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=33695

[aur-general] Why is there no option to delete your own package in AUR yourself?

Hello fellow Archers! I wonder why there's no option to delete your own package from AUR. Some users pointed out, that there once was too much abusive behaviour. I can't think of a way how this could be abused, if you are only allowed to delete your _own_ uploaded packages, except one: If there's many users (and OTHER packages from AUR that rely on that perticular package [eg bin32-wine relies on lib32-libldap from AUR]), and you delete it, thus breaking dependencies. My proposal is: Allow people to delete their own AUR packages if a) No other AUR package depends on it and b) if there's less than 10 people "using" it (aurvote). This way it would be easy to delete a faulty package without first asking on the list and it would hopefully encourage more people to try and put PKGBUILDS on AUR. akurei
