[arch-general] adding hunspell-xx packages

Right now we don't have modern dictionaries packaged. People use AUR packages or poor OpenOffice extensions that cannot be used for other apps. The proper way is to have hunspell-xx packages providing a dictionary, thesaurus and hyphenation data files. I'm going to add a base set of hunspell-{en,de,foo} packages to testing. A common PKGBUILD doesn't make much sense because the upstream sources are maintained in different countries and releases come at different time. This way we can make use of the packages in OOo/LibO, enchant and Mozilla's FF/TB/SM packages. The files will go into /usr/share/hunspell/xx_XX with symlinks to /usr/share/myspell/dicts/xx-XX for historical reason. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunspell for more. [arch-general] Problems with flickering monitor

Hi, i have a problem with my monitor, since when upgraded with pacman -Syu then when reboot the PC i could not start Arch, but if in fallback. Since my monitor flashes almost second. Then i don't know because walked in normal mode but continues with flashes. My archive /etc/X11/xorg.conf is empty and i have not installed drivers for my plate NVidia. [arch-general] xdg autostart files.

Hi, I don't know much about XDG, but I was trying to figure out why every time I started up a desktop session (KDE) wicd-tray was being loaded, when I didn't want it to be. I couldn't find any reference to it in any of the KDE autostart directories. Then I noticed that it has a .desktop file in /etc/xdg/autostart, which is owned by wicd. I guess that I can delete the file, but that's a bit messy and it'll just get replaced when wicd gets upgraded anyway. Is this really the right thing to do? Should that .desktop file be in the package or should it be up to the user to decide whether or not to load the GTK client? Or is there another (preferred) way to disable it that I'm not aware of? This is a new release with a few failed automated unit tests, but a few are usually expected. Please let me know if you have any troubles when using the new version. [arch-general] Package coordination with archlinuxfr repo?

Guys, How are packages coordinated between core, extra, community and archlinuxfr? I ask because there seems to be a lag in some of the package on archlinuxfr. I understand that archlinuxfr isn't "official", but there still needs to be some coordination when major updates like gcc take place. Of interest specifically: :: Starting full system upgrade... warning: gcc-gcj: local (4.5.2-1) is newer than archlinuxfr (4.5.1-1) warning: pdftk: local (1.44-2) is newer than archlinuxfr (1.41-5) Once Arch bumped to gcc 4.5.2, gcc-gcj and pdftk had to be uninstalled and rebuilt from AUR. That's fine, but it just seems strange that archlinuxfr still has packages dependent on gcc 4.5.1. I know the gcc-gcj and pdftk PKGBUILDS are updated for 4.5.2 -- I did it. [arch-general] repo-add & repo-remove -- great pacman tools for your custom repo

I ran across the repo-add/repo-remove scripts while looking at the pacman wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pacman_Tips Great work. For those that build packages from AUR/ABS, etc.. if you need to install them on multiple boxes handling both architectures, creating your own custom repository for your packages is a snap. If you haven't looked into the repo-add/repo-remove scripts, the Pacman_Tips page is worth a read. Basically, you simply use repo-add to build the repository index for all your custom packages and make it available on your lan via file://, http:// or ftp://. Hi All, Firstly, I am a newbie :) Loving Arch Linux. Huge thank you and brilliant job on a great distro. I was trying to set up suspend and noticed issues with tpm module. [arch-general] Knotifyv4 segfaults

For some reason I am unable to ascertain, knotifyv4 keeps segfaulting. It does work, but I get that error message when I login and logout, and sometimes (rarely) in the middle of my work. This started after I reinstalled arch on my box. Any clues? 64bit.
