Hi :) I wonder if warnings like # pacman -Syu warning: qtractor: local (0.5.3.15-2684) is newer than community (0.5.3-1) warning: rtirq: local (20111007-1) is newer than archaudio-preview (20090920-1) are useful? [arch-general] pacman 4 logic error - what part of 'no' doesn't it understand?

Guys, I have found a logic error in pacman (I think). I don't like replacing both the kernel and kernel-lts in the same 'pacman -Syu' call. So I answered 'no' when prompted to 'Replace kernel26-lts with core/linux-lts? [Y/n] n'. However, then pacman fails to install anything because 'linux-lts and kernel26-lts are in conflict'. When I answered 'n' to Replace kernel26-lts, I expected pacman to ignore upgrading that package (and the others I said no to) but proceed forward and install the remaining updates. Should I file this as a bug? [arch-general] A problem with xfce LCD clock

Hi, I have just noticed a problem with xfce clock panel-plugin: in the LCD mode instead of showing "8" it shown "0", so 6:18 become 10:10. Removing .cache and reintroducing the panel doesn't help... [arch-general] Brightness keys no longer working

The screen brightness increase and decrease keys on my laptop seem to be no longer working. They were definitely working a week or so ago, so I'm thinking some recent upgrade is responsible. It's not that the keypress is registering and the app just doesn't brighten the screen. But rather, that the keypress doesn't seem to be registering at all (i.e., when I try pressing it while using the "xev" X events tester app). About a week ago, xev used to show a keypress event for something like "XF86BrightnessUp" or some such; now it shows nothing. Anyone have any idea what the culprit might be? Thanks, DR

:: Starting full system upgrade... warning: lib32-libxcb: local (1.8-1) is newer than multilib (1.7-3) warning: libxcb: local (1.8-1) is newer than extra (1.7-2) warning: xcb-proto: local (1.7-1) is newer than extra (1.6-2) I thought it'd just be an outdated mirror or something, but a check on archlinux.org searching for xcb shows that the latter versions are current in the repos. Did something travel backward in time?

Hi, please could someone verify this? # pwd /etc/wicd/scripts/preconnect # ls -l total 8 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 47 Jan 25 03:50 hello.sh # cat hello.sh #!/bin/sh echo hello >> /var/log/wicd/aa.log # /etc/rc.d/wicd restart..done <<disconnect and connect>> But! still there is no aa.log and script seems to be not executed at all. [arch-general] Some help with systemd needed

Hello folks, i'm playing around with systemd atm and everything works fine except of the sound output. systemctl shows no alsa or pulseaudio running and in the wiki entry i cant find any hint but 'systemctl enable alsa-*', but both options (by tabbing: alsa-restore, alsa-store) return Warning: unit files do not carry install information. No operation executed. anybody got a hint? help appreciated georg

Hi folks, I'm using netcfg heavily on my laptop, both for the wireless and wired adapters. Particularly, I use the net-auto-wirelss and net-auto-wired scripts to enable auto-configuration of these adapters. The net-auto-wireless script of the most recent netcfg package sources /etc/conf.d/netcfg. Thus, there is no need to clutter /etc/rc.conf with netcfg configuration. The net-auto-wired script on the other hand does not source /etc/conf.d/netcfg and thus fails unless WIRED_INTERFACE="..." is specified in rc.conf. It's certainly a matter of taste whether these configuration settings should live in /etc/rc.conf or /etc/conf.d/netcfg, but I think both scripts should be consistent. If the difference in how they treat /etc/conf.d/netcfg is intentional, I'd like to know the reason. Cheers, Norbert
