[arch-general] Hunspell isue, other spellchecker?

Hey hey, I have problems with hunspell recognising apostrophes. Googling for it, I find that it's a known problem, which is - according to GitHub - still open. Is hunspell still the spellchecker of the hour or are there preferred packages, more actively maintained? [arch-general] Verifying a "privilege dropping" issue with ZeroTier One

Hello all! Summary: Can anyone who uses ZeroTier replicate this issue with vanilla Arch? https://github.com/zerotier/ZeroTierOne/issues/714 Description: I've come across an issue [1] with ZeroTier One which currently manifests after adding an unprivileged `zerotier-one` user to my Manjaro system; ZT can't set IP address and route. This previously worked fine so I want to find out whether e.g. it's a change in the kernel, and particularly whether it's isolated to Manjaro or shared by Arch. It doesn't manifest on any of my Debian and Ubuntu systems. Details: Debian- and RH-based distro packages automatically add the unprivileged user [2][3] (there's nothing "fancy" to the `adduser`/`useradd` command). The Arch package doesn't do this. With the unprivileged user present ZT can't add IP address or route, even when run with the "don't drop privileges" switch (sudo zerotier-one -U). Trying to do some digging, the most recent related change to ZeroTier was [4] on 17th April 2017, 1.2.4 was released 24th April 2017, so the required privileges in the commit should be current to 1.2.4: 952 + // dropPrivileges switches to zerotier-one user while retaining CAP_NET_ADMIN 953 + // and CAP_NET_RAW capabilities. This used to work up until fairly recently, perhaps a month or so ago is the last time I _know_ it worked. I've tested with Manjaro kernels 4.14.34, 4.15.17, and 4.16.2, all with the same result. I suspect it to be kernel-related given the capability requirements and the ever-onward march of kernel updates. However, I'm not an expert in kernel-related stuff so could be looking at entirely the wrong thing. [arch-general] Mirrorlist Generator Not Working?

Hello, is it just me or is the mirror list generator currently not working? When I call for example: https://www.archlinux.org/mirrorlist/?country=DE&protocol=https&ip_version=… I get a list with all mirrors at the moment and not just the ones where the above parameters apply. Best, Marc

[arch-general] [glibc 2.27] Lots of freeze with amdgpu driver on a Ryzen3 2200G.

I noticed since glibc 2.27 update on testing repos, my archlinux based system freezes randomly. Freeze could happen after 10 minutes or 3 hours I deactivate testing repositories, downgrading packages and everything works back. [arch-general] Kernel 4.16 - two entries in /dev/video for one webcam

Hi, I use skypeforlinux-stable-bin-8.18.0.6-1 and an USB webcam. Upon updating to the 4.16 series kernel, I noticed my webcam was not working in Skype, but instead a black screen was shown. Then, after checking 'ls -ltrh /dev/video*' I found these: crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 1 Apr 21 21:11 /dev/video1 crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 0 Apr 21 21:11 /dev/video0 This suggested that a "second" device was being detected. I launched Skype again and found it was possible to actually change the input video device to this, and it worked. Any clues on why the new kernel is creating two video devices for one hardware?

Hi both! After doing some digging around the PIE-related build failures of ZeroTier One [1] 1.2.6 I've developed a fix and opened a PR to the upstream project [2]. The raw patch file is also available [3]. It will apply cleanly against the 1.2.6 release (archive/tag) and, in the testing I've done so far, works without issue. [arch-general] lynx and lynx-current packages start up error message

I take it since the following message goes out over stderr it's some kind of error. sh: line 0: test: .: binary operator expected This error happens after makepkg gets used to make and install lynx-current and happened earlier with lynx. To clear this error, do I need to adjust some configuration on this end? --

Hey hey, how would I best adapt Grub's configuration file (gurb.cfg)? The usecase: I use Grub's play command to play different melodies for different entries and one when Grub is ready to be used. The reason behind it: I'm blind and like to know quite early on what is happening. Where would I best put these changes so they will survive Grub updates and regeneration of the config file? [arch-general] AMDGPU on Wayland

Since the update on mesa 18.0.0-4 this morning I am having trouble to start gdm or any other 3d accelerated program on my AMD RX580. A rollback did not help. Xorg shows "DRI 2 and 3 are unavailable". Weston fails to start with a similar error. Anyone having similar problems? Which packages should I roll back to an older version? Thanks, ente
