Once ffmpeg got deleted vlc-nox installed here with no problems. vlc for command line users

The package installs and is not functional. Why it's not functional is the package is missing .config/vlc/vlcrc so vlc has no clue how to do anything on a linux system. If a way exists for command line users of vlc to cause vlc to make a vlcrc file even if basic that would be a good addition to the vlc documentation on the archwiki. For whatever reason I couldn't get vlc-nox to install on this system error exit 4 manual intervention is needed. Was this manual intervention documented on arch-announce? I'll check the saved messages from that list to find out later. I have a vlcrc file I got from a contact on another list and found the vlcrc file I have enables vlc to work correctly to the extent I've used vlc so far. The vlcrc file I have is 83k in size so I can understand why videolan either omitted the documentation on how to build one of these ourselves when vlc is missing a vlcrc file or I didn't do a good enough web search with ddgr to find the documentation. -- Jude <jdashiel at panix dot com> "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo. multimedia broken by updates

pipewire and wireplumber were on this system before the updates happened and I had mpv and vlc playing files. I cleaned the pipewire packages from the system and put pulseaudio on the system and that hasn't improved anything either. mpv generates error output when I try playing a file with it and vlc is silent. mpv.err [E] pw.loop [loop.c:67 pw_loop_new()] 0x55a96c0d3be0: can't make support.system handle: No such file or directory -- Jude <jdashiel at panix dot com> "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo. gitlab ban cf tld and bugtracker migration to gitlab

Hello, I tried register gitlab by the same email address I am using for this list. Their online form replied that Email is not allowed for sign-up. Please use your regular email address. Check with your administrator. (https://imgur.com/a/fszgDHA) The email address is a sub domain in the .cf tld. Gitlab support response was Emails from the `cf` domain are restricted from registering due to their frequent use for abusive practices. Please use an email from another domain if you wish to register. One can also register gitlab by using his account at google, github, bitbucket or salesforce. My only motive to register is arch bugtracker. https://gitlab.archlinux.org/groups/flyspray-migration/packaging/packages/-… . Though, if I am registered, I might use my account for other purposes. As of now, I am reluctant to become a gitlab user. Not a lost for archlinux, or to gitlab. Still, for your information. -- u34

makepkg

I failed to install edbrowse-git and in doing so one of the failure messages was some warnings being treated as errors. man makepkg didn't show me any switch to prevent warnings being treated as errors unless maybe force does that. Even with force the package didn't install. Did anyone manage to get that to install correctly who could share some ideas what I'm doing wrong? Issues with new NTFS module

Hi everyone, I am currently having an issue with the new NTFS module. I am able to mount, browse the partition and create files; however, when writing content into a file, that does not happen. It seems the content is written only at partition unmount. I tried mounting my partition with both *mount* and *udisksctl* with the *ntfs3* module and it didn't work. The old *ntfs-3g* module works perfectly. Any clues on what it is happening? I can provide any logs you wish. Giovanni Santini

AUR notification emails lack List-* fields.

Hi, An email from notify(a)aur.archlinux.org arrived recently. The first in ages. The body was a simple The package jitsi-meet-electron [1] was adopted by xiota [2]. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/jitsi-meet-electron/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/xiota/ I went to add it to my mail filtering but noticed the email lacks any List-* fields in the header. I can obviously filter on other fields but wanted to suggest adding List-Unsubscribe and List-ID. It might also be worth adding how to unsubscribe as a ‘-- \n’ separated signature. Hopefully, raising it here is sufficient. Pacman -Syu fails because of required keys missing from keyring

Hello I tried to run pacman -Syu to update my Arch Linux system. Downloading the (39) packages goes well. But when installing I do get messages like: :: Import PGP key 9B7A287D9A2EC608, "David Runge <dvzrv(a)archlinux.org>"? [Y/n] error: key "9B7A287D9A2EC608" could not be imported :: Import PGP key 94657AB20F2A092B, "Andreas Radke <andyrtr(a)archlinux.org>"? [Y/n] error: key "94657AB20F2A092B" could not be imported 12 keys could not be imported and pacman thereafter stops the update. I do have another Arch Linux system which doesn't show these errors. Looks like there is an issue with this system. Is there a way to have these keys imported so that I can update my Arch Linux system ? ~Zerro
