[arch-general] Dual monitor extreme slow response

Hi, I tried to switch on my Lenovo L530 Notebook from Debian testing (KDE) to Arch Linux. Installation was no problem, but when I connect a second monitor to the VGA port the whole system gets very slow / unuseable. (The same hardware constalation works without problems under Debain testing.) I tried varios things, but nothing solved the problem: - acceleration method: UXA - acceleration method: Glamor - Upgrade to xf86-video-intel-git - Kernel downgrade to 3.14 I tried to downgrade the xf86-video-intel using Arch Rollback Machine but pacman complained about xorg-server X-ABI-VIDEODRV_VERSION. Do I have to downgade the whole xorg? Or should I try to rebuild the old driver which is used in Debian from source against my Xorg installation? [arch-general] Dropbox requires setup each time I boot

Hello, I use the dropbox client as provided on their web site. Everything works as expected however, when I reboot my machine it requires me to setup my local folder each time. I also run a Fedora 20 system with a similar setup and I only had to set up my local folder once. Anyone know what would cause this behavior and how to correct it? Curl needs to be recompiled with the new locations of the certificates. A quick glance at the PKGBUILD shows me that the compile flag --with-ca-bundle is set to /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt, while as of the last update (20140923-2 in testing), this location does not seem to exist any more. This throws up errors while running the AUR manager cower, which complains of a non-existent path. ABS has similar problems. -- Cheers!

(I originally attempted to send this to arch-dev-public, but apparently that's only for making discussions from a relatively closed circle visible? The list descriptions on the listinfo page were very ambiguous; if even things like packaging issues should go to -general if from third parties, perhaps the -dev-public description should be updated to be clearer about this.) The currently packaged sbcl 1.2.2-1 seems subject to the ASDF bug at https://bugs.launchpad.net/asdf/+bug/982285 where systems installed into /usr (e.g., according to the Arch Linux Lisp Package Guidelines) are not found when the environment variable XDG_DATA_DIRS is unset. (A workaround is to set XDG_DATA_DIRS to /usr/local/share:/usr/share explicitly.) ASDF upstream has fixed this, and SBCL upstream includes the fix in 1.2.3. The sbcl package was flagged out-of-date ~23 days ago on 2014-08-29. I would very much like to run with a newer packaged sbcl rather than limping along with the workaround. Is there anything I can do to help speed things along, or can I only wait for the package maintainer? I'm half-expecting there to be some careful coördination required with other Lisp packages, since SBCL is such a prominent implementation, but I didn't find any obvious discussion about any of this previously... ---> Drake Wilson

[arch-general] Xorg hangs with nouveau

I initially used the proprietary nvidia drivers, but one of my favourite games, Wurm Online, used to crash very often when switching workspaces. Since I use a tiling window manager, that was not exactly ideal. I subsequently switched to nouveau, since the crash logs suggested that the nvidia drivers were at fault and indeed, no more crashes - so far so good. However, every now and then, Xorg decides to hang, which usually results in me doing a hard reset. So far, this has only happened when playing said game. While I would gladly blame it on the game, it should not be able to cause such issues and it is running fine for a friend of mine, also running nouveau. I actually managed to get Xorg to crash, I have attached the coredump. I tried looking at it with gdb (I compiled Xorg with debug symbols), but could not make sense of it. I also attached the xorg log that (I hope) belongs to the dump. I hope you can help me resolve this issue. It might be a bug of nouveau, but since the proprietary drivers also had issues, I suspect more. (Maybe my card is damaged?) Output of "lspci | grep VGA": 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK106 [GeForce GTX 650 Ti] (rev a1) I'm using up-to-date arch linux at the time of writing this Email on a x86_64 architecture. I am using a self-compiled version of Xorg to include debug symbols, no other changes (Was also happening with the Xorg version in the repo) and I'm using i3 as window manager, in case that is relevant.

Hello, I upgrade my system and after that I can't run Scribus. I get error message: scribus: error while loading shared libraries: libpodofo.so.0.9.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory However I have installed package podofo and the command: locate libpodofo gives me the following output: /usr/lib/libpodofo.so /usr/lib/libpodofo.so.0.9.3 What is the problem here and how can I solve it? -- Regards from Pal
