Why is the Evolution package in extra evolution 3.12.3-1, https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/evolution/ , when the current stable version from upstream still is 3.12.2? [arch-general] Module needed by a unit

Hi I'm trying to improve the unit for a fan manager daemon for MacBook Pro. As it is, it's a dependency of multi-user.target. I would like it to start earlier in the boot process, so that he is available with rescue.target, and to refresh the computer during bootup. I tried with DefaultDependencies=false and WantedBy=sysinit.target. The first time it is launched, he failed because the coretemp module isn't loaded. It's then restarted and all is OK, so I think the module is loaded between the two start. I would like it to start succesfully the first time. Do you know how to fix this problem ? [arch-general] NetworkManager messages during bootup

Hi With the 214 systemd update, I now get during boot a lot of messages from NetworkManager. They are at loglevel <info>. I didn't changed journald.conf. I also noticed that an other daemon outputs <info> logs. Did the default log level changed ? How can I change that ? Thanks

Hi, I noticed that my mdmonitor.service failed to start with the following error message: Failed at step EXEC spawning /usr/lib/systemd/scripts/mdadm_env.sh: No such file or directory My mdadm package version is 3.3.1-2. Should I create such a script on my own? Regards.

[arch-general] Setup of HiDPI with awesome wm

Hi all, It's the first time I am requesting help through this distribution list. So excuse me if I am in the wrong place. So, here is my point: I have a lenovo T540p with a 3K screen display and, as one could image, I have very small fonts and icons which are barelly visible at normal distance from the screen. I've manage to increase fonts size in my configurations files. However, from time to time I need to connect to a 19" monitor(1280x1024) and the result is terrible (to say the least). Is there someone who is in the same situation? and what is your workaround? Please note that I am using Awesome WM and thus cannot use the scaling factor(Gnome 3) as described here:https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HiDPI One option I thought of would be to create an udev rule that would detect the monitor's connection and trigger a script that would make all the necessary connfiguration changes. What do you guys think? Thanks!

[arch-general] LibreOffice changes: dependencies, 'Fresh' branch & misguiding package names

Hi everybody, During a recent system upgrade I noticed I had a couple of new orphaned packages, among which libcdr, libetonyek, libmspub, libodfgen, libvisio and libwps. A quick investigation directed me to the libreoffice-common package, which has ceased relying upon them in its 4.2.4-2 version. PKGBUILD's message is "use internal file format libs because new library releases from system that depend on librenvenge are not supported by this LibO stable branch" [1]. Looking for packages that may depend on the orphaned libs made me discover libreoffice-fresh, the "LibreOffice branch which contains new features and program enhancements" [2]. LO-fresh does depend on those newly orphaned libs. Now this left me wondering: should I switch to using the new "libreoffice-fresh", or stick to the installed libreoffice-common? What confuses me is that it seems current Arch-provided libreoffice-common is already built from upstream "Fresh" branch, as package version 4.2.5 matches the one announced upstream (release announcement [3] and current Arch PKGBUILD for libreoffice-common [4]), and PKGBUILD source URL concurs. It appears "libreoffice-fresh" is actually a prerelease version for the next minor version release, 4.3 ([5]). So, AFAICT, currently Arch repos provide two versions of LibreOffice both built from the "Fresh" upstream branch: one is the stable version ("libreoffice-common" --> v. 4.2.5-1), the other is a prerelease version ("libreoffice-fresh" --> v. 4.3.0-0.9). However, the first one doesn't depend on formerly needed libs that add import functionalities while the second one does. So right now at least package names are a bit confusing (e.g. should be "libreoffice-fresh" and "libreoffice-fresh-prerelease"), and there is no version built from the "Stable" branch (v. 4.1.6). Could somebody shed some light about this situation, and is some kind of announcement planned so that users do not suddenly realize they switched software branch? I couldn't find any info in May/June arch-general and arch-dev-public archives.
