It really breaks my workflow. I'm not sure what you want to do... Are you trying to release to a architecture that isn't specified in the PKGBUILD's "arch" array? Or does commitpkg fail to upload an architecture you actually specified? Just to be sure, commitpkg currently behaves as follows: 1. Iterates over all architectures that you specified in your PKGBUILD (unless you use "$commit_arch"). 2. Searches for package files for each of these architectures (and it looks in "$PKGDEST" if that is used). If it cannot find a package file for one architecture, it displays something like "Skipping $_pkgname-$fullver-$_arch: failed to locate package file" and skips that architecture. 3. Searches for signature files, bails out if one of them cannot be found or is invalid. 4. archreleases to all remaining architectures. 5. Uploads package and signature files. If it doesn't behave like that for you, you should probably file a devtools bug. [arch-general] Multi-audio player script-based control?

I use mpd for 'regular' music playing, but once in a while (like today, V-Day) I use other players (like Exaile) for various purposes. I currently use xbindkeys to bind various keyboard shortcuts to mpc next, mpc prev etc. Of course, finger memory means I still press those even though I'm currently using another music player (which results in two different songs playing). Anyone know of an existing script which controls the active player (so if I press my 'next song' keyboard shortcut and VLC is active, it receives the signal, if Exaile/amarok whatever is active, it receives it, if nothing is active it defaults to mpd)? Thought about hacking something up in bash but would like to check if something already exists, first.

Hey, guys, is there a way to set BUILDDIR in makepkg.conf to a place like /var/abs/mybuilds/$pkgname? I tried set BUILDDIR="/var/abs/mybuilds/$pkgname",but it didn't work,it builds in /var/abs/mybuilds,not in /var/abs/mybuilds/$pkgname.

I don't find download small files is slow especially when the mirror is at your country. Furthermore, my country namely Singapore only have one mirror and that one mirror using FTP. Arch-devs. Kindly do not delete FTP from the list. The mirrors list are user config and not everybody use the same mirror and it is up to us to use which mirror. So, I don't see a point on remove the ftp mirrors.

Hi, I use Arch with GNOME 3 on a Dell Vostro 1520 (late 2009). This machine comes with an nVidia 9300M GS GPU. I'm using the proprietary nVidia drivers. After a recent update, all the icons from my GNOME 3 top bar have become invisible. My login screen picture has also become invisible. When I say "invisible", I mean I can click them all right, but I can't see them. These screenshots will explain more: * http://imagebin.org/198830 * http://imagebin.org/198831 What's worse, some of the GTK+ UI elements have also become invisible. Here's what my System Settings app looks like: * http://imagebin.org/198832 As you can see, the checkboxes and slider handles are invisible. Does anyone know what might have caused this? Wells, I deactivated all my extensions, and still crashing. Looks like it is a nvidia driver bug. Have to switch to nouveau for now... And will tell you if it still crashes. -- Frederic Bezies fredbezies(a)gmail.com

Hello. Can't say if it is related to an extension, but since I upgraded xorg packages with testing versions (and nvidia packages related to them), I got gnome shell to crash when I type "cal" (without quotes) in order to launch calculator or libreoffice calc :( Weird :\ -- Frederic Bezies fredbezies(a)gmail.com

[arch-general] ffmpeg and libav

I am not part of the libav team, but I know many developers and I followed the story of the fork. I then also noticed that my beloved arch is still using ffmpeg and libav is not even in the official repository (but only in AUR). Is there a reason for that? There are quite a few good reasons to switch over and many already did: - debian unstable (http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-multimedia-maintainers/2011-De…) - vlc (http://mailman.videolan.org/pipermail/vlc-devel/2011-August/081317.html) - gstreamer (https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/26497) (And I'm quite sure also gentoo and Ubuntu but I don't find a link).

If I understand correctly there is a tool to configure touchpads is now available in kde 4.8.0 http://opendesktop.org/content/show.php?content=114270 However I cannot find it on my desktop - I have the kde meta group installed. Anyone know where synaptiks is - is it available? Thanks! gene/
