[arch-general] netcfg wlan connection renewal

Hi there, I use netcfg for my university wlan (eduroam). It works fine for a while but after a couple of minutes I get disconnected and need to reconnect manually. I think that happens pretty regularly, so I assume that some kind of connection renewal doesn't work for some reason. Any idea what could be wrong, how to fix it or how to reconnect automatically? [arch-general] System Cron jobs not running

I made a custom script that I want to put into the weekly system cron job and according to my logs the script is not running weekly like it should. -rwxr--r-- 1 root root 87 Aug 4 13:39 cool_script.sh According to my information the permission are correct as only root should be able to run system cron jobs. This is the only thing I have seen in my logs. [arch-general] Problem with pgp & pacman 4.x (testing)

Hello, i'm having problem with latest updates, http://pastebin.com/b5e5mUbn after i've done pacman-key --init (after i've installed the new pacman 4.x), i receive also those errors, what is the problem ? Sorry for my english & newbe :) thanks

[arch-general] agetty doesn't take effect on keys like M-! or C-?

and any other keys which need to press the Shift as well as Meta or Ctrl at the same time. not sure if that's a problem with agetty, or perhaps some setting problem somewhere else. does anybody knows the reason why this happen, or how to solve that problem? P.S: it's working well when using xterm.

[arch-general] Forums search interval

In the forums https://bbs.archlinux.org it's only possible to run one search within 60 seconds (1 minute). This is very annoying if someone has a problem, a search term doesn't give a search result, and a new search with a different search term has to be done. So, could this interval, please, considerably be reduced? A suitable interval would be 10 or 15 seconds. There's also a bug report since more than 8 months now: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/22739 It would really be nice if this could be fixed soon. I don't need the forums and its search function so many times, but if I need it I need to do more than one search in a short interval. Heiko

[arch-general] Problems with pacman 4.0.0-2

Hi, I'm using pacman from testing and I ran into some troubles. I set "SigLevel = Optional TrustAll" in pacman.conf, but I'm still getting a lot of warnings even after I add the keys to the repo. It also takes an ENORMOUS amount of time to do I don't know what right after checking packages integrity, and then fails with : "invalid package or corrupt signature" _without_ telling me which package had a problem. As a workaround, I'm using "SigLevel =Never", but well, this isn't the solution. It "fixes" both the performance issue & the signing (as expected). I tried using an other mirror, hoping that was only a temporary corruption, but this isn't. I attached a sample pacman output log. As for performance concerns, I'm using an intel quad core cpu, with 8Go ram, and pacman doesn't seem to use any ressource at all. It looks like it's the gpg-agent command launched by pacman that takes all this time to complete (and fail in the end ?). I don't have a clue what it is doing, because that's why I used "Optional TrustAll" in the first place. I got three Arch box which are affected by this problem (on different networks, if it matters for gpg-agent). Any ideas are welcome. This could be unrelated to pacman itself. Tim

[arch-general] Pacman 4 XferCommand and 404 errors

Using an XferCommand in pacman.conf causes a bunch of 404 errors while downloading databases complaining about testing/core/extra.db.sig not found, but it doesn't do the same if it's using the default download method without an XferCommand. A more complete example in [1] Found similar troubles with curl or aria2, and as said before nothing without XferCommands. It might seem quite obvious because the files that the downloaders complain about doesn't exist in the mirrors. I've configured pacman to use [testing] this morning with the intention of trying pacman 4.0 (so far without troubles after reading a few topics on the BBS and ML) but I've noticed something "weird" after the second update, the one after pacman. Libreoffice from testing seems a build behind: testing/libreoffice-common 3.4.3-3 (libreoffice) [installed] common files for LibreOffice - a productivity suite that is compatible with other major office suites extra/libreoffice-common 3.4.3-4 (libreoffice) [installed: 3.4.3-3] common files for LibreOffice - a productivity suite that is compatible with other major office suites I've checked with the packages' page and also shows the same. [arch-general] A question about installing Arch

Hi all, I just have a question and I really need to install Arch. Unfortunatly, I only have the 2010-05 release CD here and I am not able to burn the new one. Is it correct that it will not be able to download the system and install it? If not, are there any other ways for me to get this installed? Many thanks for any help, Christian
