I was wondering if someone might be able to explain this to me. I was reading the output from dmesg, and found the following entry. CONFIG_NF_CT_ACCT is deprecated and will be removed soon. Please use nf_conntrack.acct=1 kernel parameter, acct=1 nf_conntrack module option or sysctl net.netfilter.nf_conntrack_acct=1 to enable it. I'm still learning my way around as far as system administration goes. I'm not familiar with nf_conntrack. I tried adding net.netfilter.nf_conntrack_acct=1 to the end of my /etc/sysctl.conf file, but the messagestill persisted after re-boot. Can anyone point me to an explination (A) what the message means? (B) if I need to worry about it? (C) how to activate nf_conntrack_acct if I so choose? I'm not doing anything fancy here, just running arch on a laptop. When i learned the fortran 77 standard, it utilized columns 7-72, anything in column 1 signified a comment, col 2-5 were reserved for labels, col 6 marked a continuation line, and columns 73-80 had significance I can't recall. The strict layout had historical significance related to punch-cards, which I believe ran 80 columns wide. The f90 standard I believe expanded the usable codespace to 132 columns, but I'm not sure exactly how that number became astandard. I think the punch-card thing might be where the 80 column value comes from though. [arch-general] perl-xml-parser vs. perlxml: dependency probs

Is anybody else getting dependency errors involving the attempted replacement of perlxml by perl-xml-parser? I've got libxml-perl and perl-sml-dom both requiring perlxml, thus stopping the replacement. Should I just sit tight and let the backroom boyz fix it?

Hi All I have a Videoseven 19" monitor L19FM and an Nvidia 6200 graphics card the monitor's capabilities are never recognised properly by any Linux distribution so usually I use the Nvidia-settings tool. I have upgraded to Xorg release 1.8 to do so I had to remove the Nvidia-173xx driver and installed xf86-video-nv. X bombs out with the xorg.conf file in place (/etc/X11) so I moved the xorg.conf file to xorg.conf.old and X will start but only in 800x600 This is my /var/log/xor.0.log http://www.pastebin.org/367717 I tried putting my original xorg.conf http://www.pastebin.org/367716 in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ as 20-nvidia.conf obviously changing the devices sections to "nv" rather than "nvidia" I get an "Out of range" message on the monitor, black screen but I wouldn't say X has bombed as such. Usually this means the refresh is wrong however as the information in the file used to work under nvidia-173xx I cant see that its that. I have HAL and udev in the daemons array of rc.conf I also use GDM which again is in the list of daemons. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, I have removed flash after the latest problem with x86_64 release and I want to get youtube working ASAP. To that end, I downloaded nightly sources of webkit(not wanting to download the entire svn checkout) and built the qt port. However the video element is still missing, as tested on http://html5test.com. Digging into webkit build system, I discovered that it has disabled video/audio element support for qt port because the installed qt does not support phonon. from http://repos.archlinux.org/wsvn/packages/qt/repos/extra-i686/PKGBUILD, phonon support is explicitly disabled during qt build. I searched around but could not find a reason for the same. I really do not want to build(more importantly maintain) my own qt build. So why is phonon support disabled in Qt? -- Regards Shridhar

Hello together, since the new pacman a makepkg run creates a symlink to the package file in the directory of the PKGBUILD. Example: # ls -l *.gz opera-snapshot-10.60-6378.2ah-i686.pkg.tar.gz -> /server/work/archlinux/repo/opera-snapshot-10.60-6378.2ah-i686.pkg.tar.gz My differences to makepkg.conf.pacnew be this: MAKEFLAGS="-j2" CFLAGS="-march=i686 -mtune=generic -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CXXFLAGS="-march=i686 -mtune=generic -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" BUILDENV=(fakeroot !distcc !color !ccache) OPTIONS=(strip !docs libtool emptydirs zipman purge) PKGDEST=/server/work/archlinux/repo PACKAGER="Attila <SysAdmin@hunnen>" PKGEXT='.pkg.tar.gz' [/server/work is a cifs mount point] Have i overseen something in the makepkg.conf to control this or does no one have this problem ... or is this a new feature which have to be so?
