Howdy. I fucked up an old mysql install and I want to start completely over, but pacman -R mysql (even with --nosave) doesn't remove everything; I'm still unable to run '/usr/bin/mysql_secure_installation' after reinstalling mysql; it fails setting the new password. Any way to completely obliterate all traces of mysql on my machine so I can just start over. Hi, this is a small fix for the bug reported here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=699763 Now, you have to set explicit the plugin path to the kernel mode plugin if you want to use it. So, it's up to you if you need it or not and it won't be set anymore as default, because it generated too much errors for some users. Please test it and signoff. -Daniel

I'm trying to update my system with 'pacman -Syu', but doing so discovers a conflict with phonon; phonon conflicts with qt, but kdelibs apparently needs both. What should I do? [arch-general] How to disable automatic svn updates in Konqueror 4.4?

So it looks like an annoying "feature" got added to a recent upgrade to KDE4. (Maybe in the recent 4.4 beta?) When using Konqueror as a file manager, apparently there's some new subversion integration - which is getting enabled by default. If you go into "konqueror --profile filemanagement" and click on an svn working directory, konqueror automatically displays the svn status using icons, and automatically performs an "svn update" when you enter the directory. Anyone know how to disable this "feature"? Thanks, DR

I saw on arch-announce that xf86-video-intel now only supports KMS, and I wanted to ask: is there still a way to specify the resolution of virtual consoles, like we used to do with vga=XXX in kernel options? -- catwell

Hi, I'm updating the pacman database about once a day. For the last few days I always get this message: "too much happens:: Synchronizing package databases..." but everything works fine. I checked usr/bin/pacman, /usr/lib/libalpm.so.4 and usr/sbin/fcron using strings(1) for the text "much", but no hits. What's happening here? clemens
