[arch-general] Bluetooth headphone

Hi, I have a mono bluetooth headphone dongle thing that I got paired using the new KDE4 bluetooth manager (the guys really did a great job on this I might add). I added entries in ~/.asoundrc and can play sound files to it using "aplay -D <device>". Now, how do I get other apps to see it? I dont see it as a device or channel in the mixer? Manne

[arch-general] KDE 4.3 no power functions ?

I recently installed KDE 4.3.4 The Leave section in the menu doesn't have power functions like shutdown and restart. How to solve this ? Also GTK apps are appearing very ugly, any suggestions ? -- Nilesh Govindarajan Site & Server Adminstrator www.itech7.com

[arch-general] First Time Arch w/ Gnome Installed

This is my 1st time ever installing Arch Linux with GDM / Gnome desktop environment. I did not install 'gnome-extra' package because I don't want all the useless applications. I prefer to only install what I need. I am have been using an Ubuntu 10.4 workstations and got everything working on my new Arch system. It is very fast even installed the latest nVidia drivers from their site. My only issue I have is the fonts look horrible. I did go to 'System > Preferences > Appearance > Fonts tab' and set the fonts to 'Sub Pixel Smoothing' for LCD's but I am missing the smoothness and glossiness (Anti Aliasing) that Ubuntu had. My Arch fonts still look very rough and 1993'ish. I don't know what I can do to make my Gnome / Desktop environment appear more polished and cleaner. Do you guys have any suggestions? Do I need a specific WM or special decorative package? I work a lot on my workstation and need it to be pleasing to the eyes. The fonts I have don't make my system look very appealing. I know it sounds stupid but I really like my DE to be pleasing on my eyes since I use if for hours at a time... Thanks for any help!

[arch-general] Software RAID w/ 4 Drives Fails

I am successfully able to install Arch Linux with 3 drives in a RAID5 array on Arch Linux using: mdadm --create /dev/md0 --level=5 --raid-devices=3 /dev/sda2 /dev/sdb2 /dev/sdc2 Now when I attempt the install with 4 physical disks and add the same command above with just attaching /dev/sdd2 and changing the # of devices from 3 to 4, I get a failure. When I reboot the system I lose keyboard and it asks me to enter a run level. Obviously I can't troubleshoot more because I have no keyboard. What command should I use to create a RAID5 with more disk space (no hot spare) using 4 drives? My commands and install method work perfect with 3 drives but 4 and the system crashes upon reboot. Any tips?
