[arch-general] Planet Arch Linux atom feed.

Guys, if any of you are subscribed to planet arch, then you must have noticed a problem with some of the feeds. The problem is, the summary of the feed displays fine, but when i open the feed, it shows the xml of the feed instead of showing the website. http://planet.archlinux.org/atom.xml (this is shown). This happens with only a few of the feeds. Recently happened with these feeds: Arch Haskell News: February 2010, Archiso-live 20100217 Release. I am using firefox with newsfox. [arch-general] Xscreensaver corrupts ext4 / partition

Hi all, I have 4 boxes, all with the same partitioning scheme and using ext4 for all of them. This weird thing has only showed up in one of them. Some time back while playing some video and with xscreensaver active, the timeout for xscreensaver expired and then password was required... Bad thing that xscreensaver corrupted / so that it couldn't be unlocked, and under console there was no way to loging, some misplaced inodes or something... Hard reboot was required, and then at first /tmp was so corrupted that it was necessary a phisical fix... After all that, what happens is that whenever launching xscreensaver-demo, if I had a terminal open then doing cat, or any other thing fails, since no libraries are found... If at that moment I go to console, the message I get is ext4 /dev/sda7 (partition for /) is corrupted with some inode misplacement or similar... Then at that time there's nothing else to do but to hard reset... BTW, when loading xscreensaver-demo from terminal, the 1st thing that shows up is: (xscreensaver-demo:2830): libglade-WARNING **: Could not load support for `gnome': libgnome.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I think that is due exactly for the same thing, that ext4 got corrupted, since by doing cat or any other command shows that libraries are not found or something... Has anyone seen this? Any way to get xscreensaver working back? It was actually working before, and it is working on all other boxes. Weird thing is that without xscreensaver I don't get any problem, so my work around right now is not to use it. I initially got under the impression that the ext4 corruption wa sdue to something else, so I re-installed all packages, but that didn't help (got list of packages, and install them all through pacman -S)... If this is known and there's way to overcome it, other than just not using xscreesaver at all, please let me know... Thanks, -- Javier.

[arch-general] Problems with ifplugd and net-auto-wired

Hi, I've two problems with ifplugd and net-auto-wired. When ifplugd is started during boot my speakers make a weird and very loud "moep" sound. When started from a console after boot no such sound occurs. The second problem I have is if net-auto-wired starts during boot time it will not detect any networks. Hi all, Previously I was having the following settings: /etc/default/grub ---------------------- GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT='resume=/dev/sda5' grub.cfg ----------- linux /vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sda7 ro resume=/dev/sda5 I have installed: acpitool 0.5.1-1 kernel26 2.6.32.8-1 And fro quiet a long time I've been using the kernel suspend feature through acpitool, so in order to suspend I've always done: acpitool -S As of now, it seems storing the state into the swap area is working. Problem is that when booting, the kernel is not even trying to see if there's state stored in the swap, since I don't see any message about it, and all I'm getting is plain boot. So I suspect the kernel is not compiled with built in support for suspend to disk. Is this true? Thanks, -- Javier.

Hi guys, Just paste my post from forum. Hi gyus, i got a problem...(do not know how/when did it started though). I cannot mount CD roms...(i do not speak about automounting) Here is what "dmesg" tells: sr 5:0:0:0: [sr0] Unhandled sense code sr 5:0:0:0: [sr0] Result: hostbyte=0x00 driverbyte=0x08 sr 5:0:0:0: [sr0] Sense Key : 0x4 [current] sr 5:0:0:0: [sr0] ASC=0x3e ASCQ=0x2 sr 5:0:0:0: [sr0] CDB: cdb[0]=0x28: 28 00 00 00 e6 2a 00 00 02 00 end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 235688 Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 29461 I got more or less the same problem with almost all my data cds (i do not use audio ones) Also, i cannot even mount them manually (via mount /dev/cdrom0 <dir> or /dev/sr0/ <dir>) But one or two, mounts normally. (I use pcmanfm as a file manager, and yes i have ck-launch-session in my .xinitrc) The strange thing is that all of them can be mounted under Windows XP SP3...so it's not a hardware problem. Looked through Archlinux forums, but found nothing that i could use... Any clues? P.S.1 : Most of the CDs are bootable ones, writen with "cdrecord -v speed=8 dev=/dev/scd0 -data -tao -multi". [arch-general] Kernel 2.6.30 on EEE and KMS

Hello all, I'm installing Arch on an EEE. Following the wiki, I installed from a core image which hase 2.6.30, blocked its update, and then updated all the rest. Starting X I get this: (EE) intel(0): No kernel modesetting driver detected. Does this mean I'll need 2.6.32 anyway (and hence no Wifi) or are there other solutions ?
