I've tested the public part of the website and found no breakage, good job! I just wanted to point the fact that archlinuxfr.org, where I was an admin, won't be updated anymore (source : http://forums.archlinuxfr.org/viewtopic.php?id=1818) so it can be removed from this page : http://pub.playground.archlinux.ca/moreforums/. It means there's only one french community website now (archlinux.fr). That should make it easier for new french Archers to find their way. -- catwell

Hey guys...I'm trying to setup a mailing list on the new arch server I got, but I've been having a lot of trouble. Finally, I got to here: http://lists.twilightlair.net/mailman/listinfo/arch-games but I don't think it's able to send/receive mails, and I really don't know how to proceed. Has anyone here setup mailing lists before give us a bit of a hand?

[arch-general] Missing Icons after Upgrade

Comrades, With the recent gconf/gtk/etc update, all of my GTK2 apps do not have icons- With some exceptions. In pidgin, it shows the "Quit", "Add", and "Preference" icons. In Homebank, it shows the "Save" and "Open" icons. Other programs, like Sonata, do not run: $ sonata Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/sonata", line 48, in <module> app = main.Base() File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/sonata/main.py", line 1057, in __init__ self.albumpb = gtk.gdk.pixbuf_new_from_file_at_size(self.find_path('sonata-album.png'), self.LIB_COVER_SIZE, self.LIB_COVER_SIZE) glib.GError: Unrecognized image file format gqview cannot view any images, although some of it's own icons are visible. Non-GTK2 apps, like feh can view all images fine. It seems like the only icons displayed are "stock" GTK2 icons. Anything else is unreadable to gtk2 / glib2 / gdk-pixbuf / something. At least one other person has this problem and they posted a screenshot on the forums. [arch-general] Sunplus (Philips) webcam problem

Hello, After the recent system update my webcam: 04fc:0561 Sunplus Technology Co., Ltd Flexcam 100 stopped working properly. The driver "gspca_spca561" is loaded automatically, but works incorrectly, when trying to use "gspca_sunplus" the camera is not recognized. Unfortunately I did not pay attention to the driver used before I've updated to 2.6.27... Thanks for ideas. Sergey.

[arch-general] font changes after system upgrade

Hello, I recently upgraded my system and the fonts are now being rendered differently. They looked great before but are now blurry. I don't think it's because anti-aliased fonts are enabled before whereas before they weren't, because they were enabled before and looked great. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, is there some way to change the font rendering configuration and have them re-rendered on the fly without restarting X? Thanks, Scott

[arch-general] pacman -- force removal despite dependencies (libgl)

Hello All, I have both xf86-video-vesa and nvidia-96xx installed, but I have issues with the proprietary drivers, so I wanted to try out vesa with libgl. I can remove nvidia-96xx, but trying to remove nvidia-96xx-utils flags lots of conflicts. I was going to use pacman -Rc but that would mean uninstalling (and later reinstalling) lots of packages... and I'm thinking there must be a quicker and more elegant way about this. I was wondering if there's a way to force removal of nvidia-96xx-utils and ignore the dependencies since libgl will satisfy them anyway. (I know in general it would not be a good idea for pacman to allow this...) I tried pacman -R --force but that doesn't work (--force is not a removal option). I thought about forcing the installing of libgl with -f instead, but I thought it would be neater to remove nvidia-96xx-utils first (otherwise I will have problems later when it comes to delete either package?) Any thoughts on this would be appreciated! Steve

[arch-general] System upgrade problems

Hi all, I have a problem upgrading my x86_64 system. It started a couple of days ago when my pacman -Syu reported that libxml2 could not be fetched. I decided to wait a while and try again. This morning I tryed again and when asked to replace gail with extra/gtk2 I accepted. Then I got an error message : error: failed to prepare transaction (package filename is not valid) I search google and the forums but didn't find anything. I tought gail was the problem so I removed it and the packages that required it on my system (libgnocanvas, libbonoboui, libgnomeui, etherape, gedit, gnome-desktop, gnome-panel and xfce4-xfapplet-plugin) Then I tried to install gtk2 and got the same error. Pacman -Syu doesn't either : # pacman -Syu :: Synchronizing package databases... core is up to date extra is up to date community is up to date :: Starting full system upgrade... resolving dependencies... looking for inter-conflicts... error: failed to prepare transaction (package filename is not valid) What should I do ?
