Hello, I am trying to create a git package, which provides the non-git packages from [extra], in this case mesa-git. I've decided to symlink /usr/share/licenses/mesa to /usr/share/licenses/mesa-git because the latter package provides the former, and I wanted to use same license in lib32-mesa-git package, but didn't want to depend on mesa-git. Since mesa-git provides mesa, and mesa installs /usr/share/licenses/mesa directory, I provide /usr/share/licenses/mesa as a symlink to /usr/share/licenses/mesa-git. Now, when installing mesa-git built packages, I get the following: :: mesa-git and mesa are in conflict. Remove mesa? [y/N] y :: mesa-libgl-git and mesa-libgl are in conflict. Remove mesa-libgl? The directories belong to the packages I'm trying to replace, but I am trying to replace the directories with a symlinks. Is this allowed? Should this happen at all? Hi everyone, I've been pretty busy lately and haven't been able to find the time to fix bugs and keep my packages up-to-date. Lately I haven't actually been using any of the packages I maintain, so I think the time has come to pass them on to someone with the time and motivation to maintain them. Hi. This is about my libcvp11 package: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/libcvp11/ The binary blob source files now 404 and are nowhere to be found online. I no longer have a use for this package, as opensc from [community] seems to provide a working free-software alternative. I still have a local copy of the zip file, but: - binaries in a "source" package are not encouraged - everything around this driver seems shady - the package has 0 votes, so likely no one else has/had a need for it - I'd rather not host such a blob on a server of mine for no good reason (the free-software driver works for me) Based on all that, I think this should be deleted. There wasn't really any point in trying to "fix" the PKGBUILD, it was broken and needed a rewrite (outdated pkgver, git downloading, broken URLs and wrong package name). Also, there were comments about the package not working from months ago and the maintainer hadn't responded to them. I think it's fair? Also, thanks to Felix for the quick action. Please remove linux-xen[1]. Xen support is enabled in core/x86_64/linux. Since Xen support is disabled in core/i686/linux due to its PAE dependency[2], Xen support was enabled in linux-pae[3]. The linux-xen packages is out-dated and no longer necessary. [aur-general] Possible to switch the votes/comments for two packages?

This is complex. I while ago, I adopted the 'mprime' package which provides the pre-compiled bins. The mistake I made was to rename this mprime to 'mprime-bin' which did not take with it the comments/votes. I then uploaded a 2nd package which provides mprime compiled from source which I called 'mprime' thus replacing the legacy binary one with the new from-source one. Effect: The comments/votes for mprime-bin are really those of mprime. Is there any easy way to switch the votes/comment from the mprime package to the mprime-bin package? Of course, some of the comments will then be confusing. Not sure how to proceed. Thanks.

This is an extension of the rename request for virtinst-current --> virtinst[1]. Based on some further research by djpohly, it was discovered that virt-manager-0.10.0-1 began providing virt-install[2]. djpohly offered that it might be useful to keep virtinst around because of all the dependencies that virt-manager pulls in. I thought about this for a bit and posted the following comment on the virtinst-current AUR page: "Are there many cases where virt-install would be needed without all of the extra dependencies on, e.g., some of the graphical tools/utilities? Just headless VM servers? virt-manager also installs the programs virt-clone, virt-convert, and virt-image, which seem quite useful even on headless VM servers. Unless virt-manager gets split into GUI and non-GUI packages, I don't see the value in keeping [the virtinst-current] package around. And even if [virt-manager] does get split into GUI and non-GUI packages, the non-GUI package would include virt-install anyway. So either way, I think this package can be safely deleted." As such, I am requesting that virtinst-current[3] be deleted. Hi, Bartłomiej Piotrowski proposed packaging standard changes: if there are 2 versions of some package foobar, then older version (1.0 for example) must be named as foobar1-1.0 and newer version (2.0 for example) must be named as foobar-2.0. I did not see such rule yet on https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_Packaging_Standards#Package_naming page, but my package openjpeg2 was silently removed with this reason however there are gtk* and wxgtk* packages that also violate this rule. I insist on giving me proof-link for this rule, including this rule into wiki (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_Packaging_Standards#Package_naming) and renaming all packages according this rule. [aur-general] Vagrant package on the AUR - A plugin issue.

Hello Ido and fellow Fellow archers, First of all congrats for your work on the Linux kernel. But this email is about Vagrant on the AUR, more specifically the plugins, and this happened to me today. I was using test kicthen on the redmime cookbook. So I installed the all the necessary gems trough the packages on the AUR (basically the gems install) but for the vagrant plugins I just did vagrant plugin install vagrant-berkshelf, but later on I ran into problems. The solution (at least temporary) was to install the vagrant-berkshelf gems system wide (ruby-vagrant-berkshelf on the AUR) and symling ~/vagrant.d/gems to /usr/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/ and vagrant won't complain about the lack of plugins. So what do you think it should be done? Should we fix this issue and get the plugins properly recognizable, or intruduce this symlink on the PKGBUILD and leave and install file explaining that plugins should be installed trough the repository/AUR? Hello, I'm the current maintainer of both of these packages. The upstream source for these has some weird stuff hard-coded into some of the files which makes using these difficult, so I'm not willing to maintain the packages in the AUR, and I'm guessing others won't want to either. Hey, There are a ton of zeromq packages on the AUR even though there is zeromq v4.xx in community [1] zeromq-pgm (OpenPGM support is already compiled in to the one in community) [2] zeromq3-git [3] zeromq-dev (there is already a zeromq-git (which is also out of date) but this 'dev' version is based on a beta of version 3...) I'm not sure about zeromq2 as it is a dependency for zeromqgw, so maybe it should be left alone for now. Hi, The setup scripts for python2-tagpy tries to make changes to the system at build-time (as opposed to installation-time). It also exists on the latest boost TODO and no other packages use it, except for it being an optional dependency for sonata. Sonata is currently in [extra], maintained by Ángel Velásquez. My assumption is that nobody is interested in adopting python2-tagpy and keeping it in [extra] or [community], so I'm going to move it to AUR unless there are any protests (which are followed up by adoptions). Hi all, Apologies in advance if I'm skipping some steps in this process, or if this is not the correct place to make this request. Hopefully that is not the case. Anyway, I would like to adopt this package: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/weidu-bin/ I created a new PKGBUILD, checked with namcap, then generated and installed the package (I'm using it successfully). I attach it for review. FYI, I had to had the !strip option as without it the executables become unusable. Weidu is going to probably see a few more releases, thanks to the EE versions of BG1 and BG2. I use it, so I can keep it updated. Let me know if I missed something. Thanks, Fabio ps: the downloaded zip contains a COPYING file, that is a GPL2 license. Therefore I used GPL2 in the license array instead of installing that file. Is this correct?

Hi, I've added gnupg-largekeys, which is the gnupg from Core, but patched to extend the maximum key size to 65535 bits. Please note that unpatched versions of gnupg can only import/encrypt to/verify signatures of key sizes up to 16384 bits large, so you could keep your key sizes less than or equal to that size for compatibility. https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/gnupg-largekeys I think gnupg2-large-keys.patch would be a great addition into the Arch Core gnupg package, if not in its current form then at least modifying it to increase the max key size to 16384 instead of 65535. For some interesting numbers, take a look at http://www.ecrypt.eu.org/documents/D.SPA.20.pdf (especially Table 7.2, see 15424 bit RSA keys). Basically, it'd be nice for users to be able to create keys larger than 4096 bits. Cheers, Ido

Hi, I was wondering if it would be ok to let my package (non-daw-git) depend on the ntk-git package instead of ntk. The package ntk is not yet available in AUR, but ntk-git is. I think technically, ntk-git should provide ntk, and non-daw-git should depend on some git-release of ntk. The downside for the user is that helpers like yaourt won't find the dependency. extra/docker is currently a very old system tray app for openbox2, kde3 and gnome2. It hasn't been updated in a very, very long time. docker (https://www.docker.io/) on the other hand, is a widely used and current container solution. As of 0.7, it's now available on all distributions (previously was only available on ubuntu). There will be a naming conflict between the two very soon. The terminology-git [1] package doesn't build right now because of a change in the pkgver, it tries to include a '-' and makepkg errors out. I made a comment and marked the package out of date, then when I got no response to that, I sent an email to the maintainer. No response for two weeks now, so I'm requesting it be disowned so I can update it. Cravix, the current maintainer, also has other packages that I'll take care of if needed, but right now there's no major problems with them. I'll send a request if it becomes necessary. Bluez4 stack related packages have been dropped from extra repo. Please remove all depending packages in our community repo (Blueman comes to my mind if it is not fully ported to bluez5). Bluez4 should not be picked up into the community repo. [aur-general] Long check() function in AUR packages

Hi, I am a big proponent of using automation testing. Tests saved me many times at my $dayjob projects. That is why I strongly believe that every arch package should have check() function - it is better find a problem at build time, rather than get a crash while running the application. But some projects have quite large test suites. v8,rethinkdb,tup-git are examples - their tests take 10 minutes or even more. Some AUR users complain that it is too long. Even worse - there can be flaky tests that work fine for me but fail for some users. What is the best practices in this situation? I see a few possible answers: 1) Tell users relax and enjoy running tests. Tests are for their own good. 2) Tell users to disable (!check) option in /etc/makepkg.conf 3) Maybe AUR install scripts (like yaourt) should not run tests at installation time? Or at least make it configurable? What do you think is the best option?

Hello, some people mourned on AUR that a package that I maintain (adopted from other peoples) does not use "staticlibs" option. before they mentioned it I didn't knew about it. Is this a new PKGBUILD-option, or did I just have not seen it before? What does this option do? I found the description for the option, it says: staticlibs - Leave static library (.a) files in packages Will static libs be only part of the package, if this option is set? So, without it, only shared libs will be put into the install package and static libs will be leftout? Can somebody please explain me this option? Ciao, Oliver

Hi, The service works as expected, e.g. systemctl start espeakup(a)en-us.service starts the US english voice. The problem is, varients do not work. systemctl start espeakup(a)en-us+m2.service just uses the default voice, British english, instead of the selected en-us and varient m2. I have read through the man page, and from what I gather, it should work. So, am I missing something, or have I found a bug? Attached is the service file. Hi, I have a question about custom licences. - my package is named gnuplot-nox (that is, gnuplot with far less dependencies) - the wiki ( https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_Packaging_Standards#Licenses) states that I should place the custom licence in /usr/share/licence/$pkgname/. I think the licence should go to /usr/share/licence/gnuplot/ and not to /usr/share/licence/gnuplot-nox/. But if I do that namcap complains that there is no custom licence directory : gnuplot-nox E: Missing custom license directory (usr/share/licenses/gnuplot-nox) what are your opinions about this issue ? xmonad-utils-darcs was the old, original one. Sadly the darcs source seems no longer maintained. So I imported it to git, and I'm now the upstream maintainer. I also made a corresponding xmonad-utils package that uses the versioned source off Hackage. Needless to say, the -darcs version isn't getting any more updates, and it doesn't currently build. -Leif

Hi, tightvnc has stopped releasing new versions for Linux. They only release new versions for Windows and the JVM. The source download is specifically for Visual Studio. See: http://www.tightvnc.com/download.php We already have several official packages for vnc clients and servers: vinagre, vino, x11vnc, tigervnc and vncviewer-jar.
