I would really like to host that on the same server as [community] and [multilib] repos, if the total size of the repositories is not too big, but I fear it would be several gigabytes. I imagine: - keeping ghc + several basic modules in extra/community for bootstrapping - a darcs repo one for the scripts * a script that builds packages (possibly inspired by devtools, for example an analogue of archbuild taking multiple arguments) * a script handling rebuilds (build all reverse dependencies of something in the right order) possibly just an option to the previous script * a script that updates a given collection of PKGBUILDs by calling cabal2arch * a script that moves built packages to the repositories (like commitpkg in devtools) - a darcs repo for the PKGBUILDs * one dir per package, and subdirs $package/trunk, $package/repo (holding the current WIP version of the PKGBUILD and one corresponding to the binary package in repo) * people are supposed to do only a partial checkout of the darcs repo, I know Git can do that, but that said, a full working copy is only a few thousand files. Is darcs as efficient as Git for storage ? I expect the transfer size for a full cloning to be less than 5MB. Leaving xmonad and its dependencies in the main repos in probably fine. -- Rémy

[aur-general] Please remove the qemu package on AUR

Deeply sorry but I forgot to rename it before uploading it to AUR. I've loaded another one called qemu-6828 which was intended. So please remove the old one, though I've disowned it. [aur-general] delete incorrectly named package

I came across a disowned package( http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=23013 ). The former contributor just put "svn" in the pkver field. It should be named n2n-svn. I adopted it however there is no non-vcs source release so I can't convert into a stable package. I set the new package ( http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=41506 ) to replace "n2n svn-2". I think this misnamed package should be deleted. Thanks, Andreas Wagner

[aur-general] Fixing stuff in [community] repos

Hi, While moving the python rebuilds I noticed the following packages have issues: - cgmail - gammu - mathomatic The all have commits in community-staging and some of them had entires in the db but not a package in sight. I'm not sure what happened there but someone needs to clean this up (rebuild and upload to community-testing should be fine). While I am at it, everybody make sure they upload packages using devtools. If you do not, we end up with really strange commits in the repos (e.g. repos/community - note the lack of arch) and this causes issues with ABS. I am getting really annoyed with cleaning these up so I will start naming the people who do not use the official tools for interacting with the repos and maybe blocking access if it keeps up... I'm not filing (a) bug(s) for these since there's no harm done, but this should serve as a reminder to everyone that we should check our buildscripts for sourcing compatibility whenever possible, for the sake of clarity and consistency. The currently affected PKGBUILDs are as follows: ./community/perl-datetime/PKGBUILD bash: printf: 0,61: invalid number ./community/perl-parse-recdescent/PKGBUILD bash: printf: 1,965001: invalid number ./community/haskell-x11/PKGBUILD error: package "ghc" not found ./community/haskell-x11-xft/PKGBUILD error: package "ghc" not found For the perl packages: provides=("perl-datetime=`printf %.4f ${pkgver/./,} | sed 's#,#.#'`") I don't know what the intention is with ${pkgver/./,} | sed 's#,#.#' but it does not work, as it's replacing "." with "," and then back to ".", but printf naturally fails to deal with the decimal being replaced by a comma. If I understood this correctly, the line should read: provides=("perl-datetime=$(printf "%.4f %s\n" ${pkgver})") For the other two: _ghcver=`pacman -Q ghc | cut -d\ -f 2 | cut -f 1 -d -` depends=("ghc=${_ghcver}" 'libx11') Again, I don't know why go through the trouble of checking a local package that may not exist on all systems (Sergej?). Better "hardcode" the numbers and be done with it.

Forgot all about it because I subsequently created and still use nvidia-beta-all. Doubt anyone is using this package, since as it is it would not work at all (version is woefully out of date compared to nvidia-utils-beta which it depends on ). Please delete.
