I got the following errors in "yaourt -S sublime-text-dev" : sublime-text-dev 3.3083-2 (2015-07-07 21:14) ( Unsupported package: Potentially dangerous ! ) ==> Edit PKGBUILD ? [Y/n] ("A" to abort) ==> ------------------------------------ ==> y Please add $VISUAL to your environment variables for example: export VISUAL="vim" (in ~/.bashrc) (replace vim with your favorite editor) ==> Edit PKGBUILD with: vim ==> ERROR: Running makepkg as root is not allowed as it can cause permanent, catastrophic damage to your system. [arch-general] Makefile possibly removed libc?

So I am trying to learn about c programming and I was editing a simple c program I got off the web. I was modifing the makefile to understand what it does and after building it from inside sublimetext 2 I noticed that my root directory had zero free space. I rebooted and had 2 gigs free again, but now when I try to launch sublime text I get a segfault. Dmesg reports an error 4 in libc-2.21.so I have not had any internet connection on this machine for 2 months so I know it wasn't update related. My key suspect is the last few line of the make file which I thought I had commented out but actually missed and read: Clean: rm -f *.so rm -f coil rm -f tables When I built it from the terminal in its directory it may have been fine, but when I built it thru sublime I suspect the path was different in some way and it deleted files it shouldn't have. Can anyone help me out here? Sublime is what this pc is for and I am kind of hosed! Can I just rebuild some library? Is my suspicion misplaced and you need more info? Is there a way to see what files have been deleted in the last 24 hours dispite a reboot?/ Thanks!

Hi, I noticed that ping in [testing]/iputils does not work on systems with disabled IPv6 stack. For example (as root): ---------- # ping archlinux.org ping: socket: Operation not permitted (raw socket required by specified options). # cat /proc/cmdline BOOT_IMAGE=../vmlinuz-linux ... ipv6.disable=1 ... # pacman -Qo ping /usr/bin/ping is owned by iputils 20150815.1b5d03a-2 # getcap /usr/bin/ping /usr/bin/ping = cap_net_raw+ep ---------- I tried playing with cmdline options, without any success. ping from [core]/iputils 20140519.fad11dc-1 does work. Is this a bug or a feature, and does anyone know how to make ping work again? The package "ca-certifcates" is a virtual package that provided by "ca-certificates-utils" too, so you can simply remove ca-certificates-cacert together with ca-certificates. -- Regards, Felix Yan

Hi, the ca-certificates package depends on ca-certificates-cacert, which in my opinion should not be the case. What seems to be the proper way to remove CAcert certificates from the trust store? Just remove the certs with `trust anchor`, or pacman -Rdd ca-certificates-cacert? Both seem to be temporary fixes. [arch-general] systemd-networkd 226 in virtual machines

in 226, systemd-networkd now supports predictable interface names for virtio devices.[1] For people running Arch in KVM with virtio-net (as I do), that means the network interface name will change from eth0 to - in my case - ens5. That, for me also meant no ip address after reboot. Make sure to set [Match]Name=en* or some such before rebooting.
