[arch-general] Aftpd won't start without nogroup group

So if you see Bruce Schneier asking random questions like "How encryption works" or "Please help me to install GPG" it will be OK for you and you won't google his name to discover who is that person ? Now who cares who is Bruce Schneier (the rest 10%), let's just help him with the encryption because he seems to be casual computer user.

[arch-general] lxde setting problems

1. Pressing the printscreen button opens an openbox dialog that says it couldn't execute gnome-screenshot. I don't use gnome and I don't want printscreen to do anything. 2. I use lxde and I like my task bar at the top of the screen. There is always a pixel above the open tasks so I can't just move the mouse to the top and select a task. I have to click on the task name (which is difficult for me). I tried setting the margin to 0 in the panel settings and setting the spacing to 0 in the taskbar settings. 3. Windows open (and can be moved) so the part of the window that can be dragged can be under the taskbar (I have autohide set to off).

[arch-general] Inkscape fails to open svg files

Hi all, An update between the 17th of May and the 1st of June seems to have broken Inkscape's ability to open existing svg files on my computer. Any svg I open (including stock files off the internet) cause Inkscape to crash with "Inkscape encountered an internal error and will close now". I even created a new, test svg consisting only of a few shapes and text, but I can't open it again after saving. Has anyone else seen anything like this? Thanks!

[arch-general] Duplicated keycodes

Hi. I hope someone can help me please. I bought a new keyboard, a noga NKB-710. The problem is that, according to xev, four of the keys have the same keycode... The keys Ctrl, Alt, Win*** and shift, have the same keycode, 50. Off course, it doesn't work correctly. and this way, It's imposible to me to configure it with xmodmap. I don't know what data I can share. I hope this to be sufficient: attached a lsusb -v output Thx, bye! :P

[arch-general] Qemu on Livirt: extra/ovmf being useless

Godday I was trying to make EFI booting work on qemu using the GUI that comes with libvirt. I went ahead installing extra/ovmf. I struggled a bit, since the injection of EFI firmware into qemu is not accessible through libvirt and found /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf to be the place to set it up. However any setup guide to the nvram array gets to have 2 arguments split by a colon, where I just could not figure out what to put in the second spot. I went ahead trying ovmf-svn from AUR, which "works", in that it ships two files, one before (ovmf_code_${short_arch}.bin) and another for after the colon (ovmf_vars_${short_arch}.bin). I just haven't got that one to boot from hard drive yet either. That part though, I'm confident to figure out eventually. My question focuses around the extra/ovmf bit, which in the case of libvirt doesn't appear to ship all the necessary pieces. Does the packager have a working recipe to set up extra/ovmf available under libvirt? Is it possible to store one's UEFI vars per box? cheers! mar77i

Hello, We've found a inconsistency with the traceroute installation and it's manpage. The manpage says 'traceroute6 is an equivalent to traceroute -6', but in arch linux this does not work. It this by design? Thank you. Paul Schaefer

Hi all, I'm heavily using VMware workstation 11 and https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/VMware states about https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/VMware#3.19_kernels_and_up kernel 3.19 and up. When upgrading my system, I'm prompted to upgrade to 4.x kernels Is the provided patch (http://pastie.org/pastes/9934018/download) working for 4.x kernels ? Thank you. Note: I did not use https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/vmware-patch/

Hi, for some time past I get error: unknown encoding UTF8: using iso88591 as fallback when running GTK2 and GTK3 apps, Pluma, Claws Mail, Evolution. Other apps, perhaps Qt apps, might be affected too. There are no issues when using those apps, the terminal just shows these messages. I also used sofar the GNU Screen to connect to remote host through serial connection: screen /dev/ttyUSB0 115200 Sofar it works, but today I get the message: [screen is terminating] htop shows these lines for screen: 19038 csp 20 0 17244 2496 2300 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.00 screen /dev/ttyUSB0 115200 19039 root 20 0 17244 2348 2044 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.00 SCREEN /dev/ttyUSB0 115200 So I must first kill these two processes of screen, and after that I can run screen /dev/ttyUSB0 115200 command, however, the GNU Screen is empty, so it is useless. Before, I just hit Enter to get the login prompt in Screen, but now I get nothing.
