[arch-general] Qt Creator black window on designer

Hi, I have QtCreator installed on my system. When I switch to designer mode (by opening *.ui.qml file) some of the window areas goes black, application start to response slowly and the crashes. This happens on both Nouveau & NVIDIA drives (If this matter). Does anyone knows to solve this problem? [arch-general] Conflict python-html2text/html2text (both /usr/bin/html2text)?

All, I have been working on a project that retrieves and parses statutes basically making use of the piped processes 'curl -s url | html2text -utf8' with the read-end of the second pipe passed to getline. I moved the code from my laptop (suse) to my servers (Arch) and the pipe process broke. Poking around, I found it was due to Arch packaging python-html2text (as /usr/bin/html2text) instead of the gcc-libs version (see: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/html2text-with-utf8). While not updated recently, the gcc-libs version is quite a bit more robust and flexible (not to mention it actually provides a man page). See: http://www.mbayer.de/html2text/ There are format shortcomings with the python version as well. One big one being you cannot control the word wrap (--body-width) and prevent double line-breaks after block elements. e.g. (--single-line-break requires --body-width=0). Is there any reason in particular Arch is packaging the python version instead? If nothing else, is there any interest in at least renaming the resulting executable to prevent direct conflict with the gcc-libs version. I just found it very odd to find an executable in Arch named 'html2text' that works completely different from the traditional 'html2text' found in many distributions for years. Hi all, I tried to register on bugs.archlinux.org yesterday but didn't receive an email with the registration code yet. I just want to ask if it is normal that it takes some time or if there might be a technical problem? [arch-general] openntpd creating /usr/var/run/ntpd.sock

Hello, I am running openntpd on several machines, one of which has /usr mounted as read only. Openntpd wants to create it's socket file in /usr/var/run and can't, thus it fails to start. I was unable to find a configuration option to change this location to /run, where it seems like it should be. Is there a way to change this somewhere that I missed? [arch-general] Arch linux doesn't recognises micro SD card

Hi, I'm running Arch linux on my laptop. The laptop has Multi-in-1 card reader. I just bought a micro SD card with an adapter so I can it plug in into this card reader. But the Arch linux system doesn't recognise it so I can't use it. I tried with Gparted too without any success: I get Gparted error: Output/Input error during read on /dev/mmcblk0 whyle on the virtual console I get error messages: mmcblk0: error -84 transferring data, sector 7, nr 1, cmd response 0x900, card status 0x0 Buffer I/O error on dev mmcblk0, logical block 0, async page read However, this same micro SD card has been recognised on MS Windows system. What can I do to solve this problem on my Arch linux system? -- Regards from Pal

Hi all, Version 2.0.0 of the LightDM GTK greeter was released about week ago. This release drops GTK2 support. Therefore I propose to rename the current "lightdm-gtk3-greeter" into "lightdm-gtk-greeter" and drop the legacy "lightdm-gtk2-greeter" to AUR. I could keep "lightdm-gtk2-greeter" around for a while in [community] if some people want me to (I'm thinking people using MATE for example, but it's going towards GTK3 anyway), but keep in mind that you can use LXDM instead if you really need a GTK2 display manager. If there aren't any objections by the end of the week, I'll proceed with my proposal. Cheers, -- Maxime
