Wasn't there a guideline somewhere against this? Should I raise bugs when I see this is taking place? Specific example that I just noticed is mpd, because libnfs in community updated. Of course, mpd was updated within 12 hours or so, and I understand packages are mostly best maintained by those who actually know/care about the project, hence I just want to ask the question, is this considered a bug or not?

[arch-general] pacman security when importing new keys?

Hello, today, pacman asked me to import a new signature key. So far this was done "automatically" using a keys-package, which, itself, was signed with a trusted key. How is the new mechanism secured? Is the new way, to bring keys to users, prone to MITM attacks? Thanks in advance. Manuel

The last few days when I try to update (pacman -Syyu) I get the following:- (29/29) checking keys in keyring [######################] 100% downloading required keys... error: key "A6234074498E9CEE" could not be looked up remotely error: required key missing from keyring error: failed to commit transaction (unexpected error) Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded. how do I fix it??

[arch-general] NFS won't start since 2015-2-11 update (solved)

Do # systemctl enable rpcbind.service and reboot or `systemctl restart nfs-utils`. It seems that the before rpcbind-0.2.2 this service were preset to "enabled" but this is no longer the case, so it will default to "disabled". Just my €0.02. -- Rodrigo

[arch-general] fdisk vs. gdisk for GPT partitioning

Hello everyone, Since more than a year now, fdisk (provided by util-linux) has had GPT support. This theoretically makes gdisk a duplicate of fdisk, and we could replace gdisk with fdisk. Now, I'm not asking to drop gdisk or anything like that, but in an effort to clean up the Beginners' guide of the Arch Wiki, we want to use a single partitioning tool for both MBR and GPT partitioning instructions.[1] util-linux fdisk is able to provide this functionality, but we are not completely sure if it is stable by now (it should be, I think). So, now my question: is there anyone who has had bad experiences with fdisk and GPT partitions, where gdisk was superior? After a recent upgrade, my locale was broken. Hi, there is currently a critical bug preventing from adding a printer in the latest versions of cups: see FS#42666 [1]. To summarize, when trying to find a driver `foomatic list` stalls, hogging up the CPU and `cupsd -l` does the same. See the provided link for upstream bug report URL (they say they can't reproduce it although it affects many Arch users) and link to discussion in the forums. [arch-general] FS#41424 - Virtualbox 4.3.14, USB doesn't work flawlessly

Hi, I experienced Virtualbox 4.3.14 x86_64 as broken, when I tried to sync an iPad2 with iTunes running on a XP SP3 guest. I only tested it with USB2 enabled, since it worked with 4.3.12. Usually I use the packages virtualbox, virtualbox-host-dkms, virtualbox-extension-pack and I add the guest additions, that fit to the used vbox version. Because I wasted much time with trying to use 4.3.14, I did an incomplete downgrade to 4.3.12 yet, since I'm short in time, but even with virtualbox 4.3.12-1 virtualbox-host-dkms 4.3.12-1 no extension pack, no USB2 and with wrong guest additions, version 4.3.14, I get rid of the issues. I will complete the downgrade on my machine ASAP and IMO the community packages should be downgraded for the repositories too. Do others experienced issues with Virtualbox 4.3.14 USB too?
