[arch-general] Gnome 3.14 boot hanging (Reached System Update Target)

Hi, I just upgraded to Gnome 3.14 and wanted to test new things, especially the new Pacman backend to PackageKit (through gnome-software). I just clicked on the "update and restart" notification and I couldn't boot anymore. I remove the "quiet" kernel boot flag in Grub and saw that the offending line was "[OK] Reached System Update Target". There was no timeout so my system just hanged like that for a dozen of minutes (coffee time). No TTY was available. I solved this by adding the "single" kernel boot flag in Grub, then log in as root, then remove the /system-update folder then reboot. Regards

[arch-general] mkinitcpio debugging with systemd

Hello! I am running a initrd make with mkinitcpio using the "systemd" hook. This works great in general, but after a bit of playing with the hooks and systemd code the generated initrd will no longer start. That is no big deal and entirely my fault and I should be able to fix it. My problem is now that I can not really debug the initrd anymore. Is there a way to get a debug shell on the initrd when using the systemd hook? Any hints would be greatly appreciated:-) Best Regards, Tobias

[arch-general] Gstreamer upgrade broke rhythmbox streams?

I listen to quite a few radio stations through rhythmbox, and all of them now fail to play with an error of "Could not determine type of stream." I noticed that gstreamer updated yesterday to 1.4.3. Might that be the issue? Are others experiencing similar problems?

[arch-general] Dual monitor extreme slow response

Hi, I tried to switch on my Lenovo L530 Notebook from Debian testing (KDE) to Arch Linux. Installation was no problem, but when I connect a second monitor to the VGA port the whole system gets very slow / unuseable. (The same hardware constalation works without problems under Debain testing.) I tried varios things, but nothing solved the problem: - acceleration method: UXA - acceleration method: Glamor - Upgrade to xf86-video-intel-git - Kernel downgrade to 3.14 I tried to downgrade the xf86-video-intel using Arch Rollback Machine but pacman complained about xorg-server X-ABI-VIDEODRV_VERSION. Do I have to downgade the whole xorg? Or should I try to rebuild the old driver which is used in Debian from source against my Xorg installation? [arch-general] Dropbox requires setup each time I boot

Hello, I use the dropbox client as provided on their web site. Everything works as expected however, when I reboot my machine it requires me to setup my local folder each time. I also run a Fedora 20 system with a similar setup and I only had to set up my local folder once. Anyone know what would cause this behavior and how to correct it? Curl needs to be recompiled with the new locations of the certificates. A quick glance at the PKGBUILD shows me that the compile flag --with-ca-bundle is set to /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt, while as of the last update (20140923-2 in testing), this location does not seem to exist any more. This throws up errors while running the AUR manager cower, which complains of a non-existent path. ABS has similar problems. -- Cheers!
