Hi, my firefox and seamonkey have been segfaulting for a month or so. Running the software with gdb produces the following errors: Firefox: Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x00007ffff7de6567 in _dl_relocate_object () from /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 Seamonkey: Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x00007ffff7de6567 in _dl_relocate_object () from /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 is owned by glibc 2.21-2. I have already tested the laptop ram with memtest86 and I got no errors. Deleting and creating new browser profiles in home does not change anything, too. Does anyone have the same problem? [arch-general] opendmarc / opendkim - suggestion

opendkim is in community repo. dmarc and dkim are now in broad use by the major internet mail companies (google, yahoo, microsoft, etc). If a maintainer is willing, it would makes sense to move opendmarc from AUR to community as well. For those who may not know, while dkim cryptographically validates the domain of the sender in email, dmarc takes the next step and validates that the domain in the From: header matches the dkim domain. It's simple but effective way to be comfortable that the sender domain is who it claims to be. Thanks. gene

After switching to Plasma 5 from KDE SC 4, I have a couple of small issue, and I wonder if anyone else already has a solution? 1) I'm using SDDM now, but even with KDE4, I was unable to get SDDM to actually launch a Plasma session. After entering my details, I get a black screen and no further activity. I have to switch to another console, log in, and invoke startx myself. 2) I used to have some global shortcuts for launching certain apps. I don't seem able to set these up any more. After setting a shortcut on a lancher in the panel (e.g. Firefox), nothing happens when I actually hit the shortcut combination. 3) Despite installing sni-qt, I'm getting no tray icon for my Telepathy IM contacts. 4) I'm not sure how to get my beloved comic widget back on my desktop :( Paul

[arch-general] filesystem-2015.02 package errors from symlinks

I use symlinks for some directories (e.g. /srv/http and /var/spool/mail are sym links to dedicated disks) When i update the filesystem package I get this error: error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files) filesystem: /srv/http exists in filesystem filesystem: /var/spool/mail exists in filesystem Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded. What is the recommended way to deal with this? My version is: filesystem 2014.10-3 Trying to update to : filesystem-2015.02-1 in testing repo. Thanks. Gene

[arch-general] PKGBUILD: replaces array in split packages

Hello, I'm writing a script [1] to update package links on ArchWiki. The script also gives hints on broken/outdated package, e.g. for 'mesa-dri` the hint is "replaced by 'mesa'" (with an appropriate link to the 'mesa' package). I've chosen to only look into the 'replaces' array of the packages, because unlike 'provides', a package can be replaced only by one other package, whereas multiple packages can "provide" the same package. Or at least I thought so - it appears that both qemu and libcacard have qemu-kvm in their 'replaces' array. In this case, it's because qemu is a split package (qemu + libcacard) and the replaces array is defined globally in the PKGBUILD, not per-package. Is this a bug or was my assumption about the 'replaces' array wrong? How would pacman handle the situation where qemu-kvm is supposed to be replaced by libcacard and/or qemu? Hello, I've got a problem with pacman: when I try to upgrade the system pacman writes "key "A6234074498E9CEE" could not be looked up remotely". Then I looked into this forum thread (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1501915#p1501915) I tried the workaround but "pacman-key --refresh-keys" returned (after a long time): gpg: Refresh vom Schlüsselserver fehlgeschlagen: Dateiende ==> FEHLER: Ein spezifizierter lokaler Schlüssel konnte nicht vom Schlüssel-Server aktualisiert werden. (it means:) gpg: refresh failed from the key server: end of file ==> ERROR: a specified local key could not be refreshed by the key server. Do you have any solutions? -- Viktor

Wasn't there a guideline somewhere against this? Should I raise bugs when I see this is taking place? Specific example that I just noticed is mpd, because libnfs in community updated. Of course, mpd was updated within 12 hours or so, and I understand packages are mostly best maintained by those who actually know/care about the project, hence I just want to ask the question, is this considered a bug or not?

Hello, today, pacman asked me to import a new signature key. So far this was done "automatically" using a keys-package, which, itself, was signed with a trusted key. How is the new mechanism secured? Is the new way, to bring keys to users, prone to MITM attacks? Thanks in advance. Manuel
