Ehlo, I'm pleased to announce you that a meetup[1] event is in preparation in Paris. That is targeting French speakers with 2 talks[2] about our favourite distribution. This will be followed by some drinks and foods. There is no selected location, person interested by meetup events are invited to join the "Archlinux France" group[1]. [arch-general] Plasma 5 - how to start afresh

Hello, I would like to restart the DE as if for the first time, and I don't know where the Plasma 5 user files are stored. There's no $HOME/.kde5 nor $HOME/.kf{,5}. Upon first start, the initial step was to localize the env to fr_FR. systemsettings crashed and/or hanged after choosing the relevant locale in all 4 existing tabs (translations, spell check, format, date time). After the third time I closed/restarted the session, the target locale finally prevailed. Not all strings are translated, I suppose a full l10n package will be avilable later on. So I wish to repeat the same steps, just to see if I run in the same crash/hang. Please advise how I can delete all kf5 settings ? Thanks.

Hi, after upgrading Evolution, it doesn’t work anymore. Downgrading to the version that did work before, doesn’t solve the issue. I didn’t install the evolution plugins that seem to replace bogofilter and spamassassin. Unfortunately I didn’t find out, how to display the coredumps. For further information please take a look at [1]. How can I make 3.12.5 working again, without restoring my complete Arch Linux install from a backup? [arch-general] Catalyst and GNOME 3.14

Hi everyone. Is anyone else having issues trying to start GNOME 3.14 with the Catalyst driver for AMD/ATI cards? I've got one of those laptops with the dual AMD cards (discrete and onboard), and the open-source drivers have never worked for me, forcing me to use Catalyst. With the latest update to GNOME 3.14, trying to log in results in the fail screen, and the system logs report that gnome-shell has been trying to restart too many times. The best my Google-fu can discover is that it's due to Wayland being a core part of GNOME… or something.

After upgrading to imagemagick 6.8.9.8-1, I've found it to be a lot slower than 6.8.9.7-1. I only get this issue when downloading from the repositories or using the PKGBUILD, not when compiling using the instructions at imagemagic.org. I've discussed the issue with the ImageMagick developers, which you can find at http://www.imagemagick.org/discourse-server/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26369&sid=a…. Even when trying to convert a 500x500 image to 100x100, it appears that an image that is 2048x1536 is created. I've tried this on multiple Arch machines with the same result.

The package fails since one or more files fails validity checks with md5s. I have irssi working over here but was asked to install ircii and picked this version to install and the package failed validity checks twice. I tried the download twice using yaourt -S ircii-current since I wasn't sure if it was a network transmission problem but this one appears to be a defective files problem. jude <jdashiel(a)shellworld.net> Twitter: @jdashiel

https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/x86_64/qupzilla/ IMO Qupzilla should be removed from the official Arch repositories. Qupzilla was the browser I used. The latest update comes with the information that the old data doesn't fit to Qupzilla's new design, so users lose the complete history. Such a fundamental attitude from upstream IMO is absolutely intolerably.

Pacman now warns when trying to uninstall a package that is an optdepend for another, however, I was wondering if we could take this a step further, and have a flag to list "packages that are not mandatory OR optional dependencies for other packages". A typical usage is: pacman -Rnsu $(pacman -Qdtq) This uninstalls any leftover dependencies, INCLUDING optional dependencies. I'd love to exclude these, but there's no programatical way to obtain a list of packages that are "installed as dependencies and not mandatory or optional dependencies for other".
