I have installed wsgi_mod and followed the instructions at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/mod_wsgi. I am getting a server error: ********************** Server error! The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Either the server is overloaded or there was an error in a CGI script. If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster. [arch-general] Issues when updating mysql-connector-c++

Hi, Since mysql-connector-c++ 1.1.4 has been available for a few months I am trying to create a PKGBUILD for this version. The first problem I encountered was the MYSQL_LIB variable set to NOTFOUND by default. I circumvented this issue by hardcoding -DMYSQL_LIB=/usr/lib/libmysqlclient.so in my PKGBUILD [1]. However, I don't think this is the right solution. Does anyone know how to obtain the location of this library and pass it to cmake correctly? After this workaround make begins to build the library, but errors when linking an object file: [ 47%] Building CXX object test/framework/CMakeFiles/test_framework.dir/start_options.cpp.o Linking CXX executable driver_test ../driver/libmysqlcppconn.so.7.1.1.4: undefined reference to `mysql_options4' collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status When viewing the symbols in libmysqlcppconn.so.7.1.1.4 (using readelf) I noticed that mysql_options4 is indeed available, but with an undefined index. So I searched for this error and found some info about undefined symbols, but not about this particular case or anything that could be related. Does anyone know how to solve this issue? I thought that it might be because I have libmariadbclient 10.0.13-1 installed and tried to build the connector against Oracle's libmysqlclient from AUR. This time, I got a different error: /…/src/mysql-connector-c++-1.1.4/driver/mysql_metadata.cpp:1216:74: error: ‘dynamic_cast’ not permitted with -fno-rtti connection(dynamic_cast< MySQL_Connection * >(service->getConnection())), ^ So somehow I should remove this flag from the compiler command line make uses. [arch-general] [Classroom] Introduction to Scheme and Functional Programming - 5th Sept.

Hello, There will be a class taught by nisstyre called "Introduction to Scheme and Functional Programming". It will be on Friday, September 5th at 8pm UTC (4pm EDT, 9am NZDT) in #archlinux-classroom on the freenode network. The class is expected to run for 1-2 hours. Learn the basics of Scheme and how to write practical, useful functional code, while having fun! Both beginners and advanced practitioners are welcome to attend. There are no prerequisites but it helps to have some basic programming knowledge - like variables, conditionals, looping, and an idea of what a function is. Nisstyre is a long time user of Arch Linux (approx. 6 years). He is a programmer who previously worked in a startup. Currently he is a student doing academic research. [arch-general] Display Manager issue

Good Morning folks, my DM is behaving strange. The systems boote to a bblank screen with a mouse cursor. To be able tologin I have to press Ctrl+Alt-F2 followed by Alt+F1. The journal does not provide any clue that somethings going wrong. Any ideas? Thanks Frank

[arch-general] Location of the pacman database

Hi ! Why is the pacman local database location defaulted to /var/lib/pacman ? It should go in /usr as it reflects the installed packages and it is only updated when a package is updated. If it where in /usr, it would be easier to share the /usr partition between hosts. What do you think ?

[arch-general] no audio in VLC after seek in video playback

Hi, Arch'ers, again I've a problem with audio/video in GNOME and again I hope you can give me a hint to solve it. I trust in you ! :) I realized it yesterday that there is a problem with VLC and playing MP4-files (might concern other formats too). The audio mutes if I forward / rewind during the playback. This also happens if I pause the playback before I forward. Google finds a lot of stuff to this description, most of them with an earlier version of VLC and also most of them in context of (K)Ubuntu. Some threads suggested to install a package 'vlc-plugin-pulse' but I think that does not fit to Archlinux. Starting VLC by 'vlc -vvv' naturally produces a lot of debug output but apart from the pasted lines below there was'nt something useful to read there. First I thought it might be related to my bluetooth headset and bluez again but the problem also occurs if I use the interal audio speakers of my laptop or analog audio headset. I don't even know where to focus on: pulseaudio or VLC ? I guess on VLC, with GNOME MPlayer video playback works fine (but fullscreen mode does not run smoothly). Hi, Since the upgrade of nmcpcpp to 0.6beta2 yesterday, custom keybindings no longer work, and the commandline subcommands (most importantly for me, `ncmpcpp toggle`) have stopped working as well. Downgrading to 0.5.10 solve these issues. Perhaps the package should stay at the last stable release? (I should say I don't follow ncmpcpp development closely at all, and for all I know that beta might have been around for years. In any case, I'm seeing the above problems with the beta version.) Hi, as user I have the permission to run systemctl reboot _without_ sudo. $ groups wheel games video audio optical storage power users vboxusers rocketmouse $ sudo cat /etc/sudoers | grep -v "#" | grep " " root ALL=(ALL) ALL rocketmouse ALL=(ALL) ALL 1. How can I disable it? 2. Since I'm the only user I could live with it, but I anyway want to be ask for a password, before I run the command by a menu entry. Is anything speaking against running gksudo systemctl reboot ? Is anything speaking against running gksudo -u some_user reboot ? I don't think so, but I want to ensure that I don't miss something. Again, I can execute it successfully without gksudo, I want to add gksudo, because I want to be asked for the password. Regards, Ralf
