Hi all, It's the first time I am requesting help through this distribution list. So excuse me if I am in the wrong place. So, here is my point: I have a lenovo T540p with a 3K screen display and, as one could image, I have very small fonts and icons which are barelly visible at normal distance from the screen. I've manage to increase fonts size in my configurations files. However, from time to time I need to connect to a 19" monitor(1280x1024) and the result is terrible (to say the least). Is there someone who is in the same situation? and what is your workaround? Please note that I am using Awesome WM and thus cannot use the scaling factor(Gnome 3) as described here:https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HiDPI One option I thought of would be to create an udev rule that would detect the monitor's connection and trigger a script that would make all the necessary connfiguration changes. What do you guys think? Thanks!

[arch-general] LibreOffice changes: dependencies, 'Fresh' branch & misguiding package names

Hi everybody, During a recent system upgrade I noticed I had a couple of new orphaned packages, among which libcdr, libetonyek, libmspub, libodfgen, libvisio and libwps. A quick investigation directed me to the libreoffice-common package, which has ceased relying upon them in its 4.2.4-2 version. PKGBUILD's message is "use internal file format libs because new library releases from system that depend on librenvenge are not supported by this LibO stable branch" [1]. Looking for packages that may depend on the orphaned libs made me discover libreoffice-fresh, the "LibreOffice branch which contains new features and program enhancements" [2]. LO-fresh does depend on those newly orphaned libs. Now this left me wondering: should I switch to using the new "libreoffice-fresh", or stick to the installed libreoffice-common? What confuses me is that it seems current Arch-provided libreoffice-common is already built from upstream "Fresh" branch, as package version 4.2.5 matches the one announced upstream (release announcement [3] and current Arch PKGBUILD for libreoffice-common [4]), and PKGBUILD source URL concurs. It appears "libreoffice-fresh" is actually a prerelease version for the next minor version release, 4.3 ([5]). So, AFAICT, currently Arch repos provide two versions of LibreOffice both built from the "Fresh" upstream branch: one is the stable version ("libreoffice-common" --> v. 4.2.5-1), the other is a prerelease version ("libreoffice-fresh" --> v. 4.3.0-0.9). However, the first one doesn't depend on formerly needed libs that add import functionalities while the second one does. So right now at least package names are a bit confusing (e.g. should be "libreoffice-fresh" and "libreoffice-fresh-prerelease"), and there is no version built from the "Stable" branch (v. 4.1.6). Could somebody shed some light about this situation, and is some kind of announcement planned so that users do not suddenly realize they switched software branch? I couldn't find any info in May/June arch-general and arch-dev-public archives. Hello, I've been trying to get autologin working in LightDM on my mediacenter without success. [arch-general] Cannot update yaourt and package-query

Hello, I can't update yaourt and package-query via pacman -Syu because I get an error which says the package is broken and there's a problem with the PGP signature. [1] I can ignore this package but I think it's not a good solution. What can I do? [arch-general] How do you configure the new i2c_hid touchpad driver?

Hi, I just upgraded to the 3.15.1-1 kernel and I'm having issues with my touchpad. In 3.14 I had blacklisted the i2c_hid module so that I could use the old synaptics touchpad driver but seemed to break in 3.15 so I unblacklisted the module so now I'm using i2c_hid instead. The trouble is that the touchpad is not configured correctly with this driver (scrolling does not work at all) and I don't know how to configure it. With the old driver I used the synclient tool and also set options in /etc/X11/xorg.d/50-synaptics.conf This doesn't work with the new driver. Hi, Why is there no static libutil (libutil.a) in the glibc package? The PKGBUILD has "options=(staticlibs)" which is supposed to keep *.a files, and indeed, there are some static libraries like libpthread{,_nonshared}.a. Was static libutil removed by upstream?
