[arch-general] bootchart confusion

hi list, i am confused about bootchart{,2}. in aur [1] its called bootchart2, in community we have bootchart [2]. in the aur there is a comment from tom, that [1] is going to be replaced by [2]. now [2] is bootchart version 1.20, so it does not look like bootchart2 to me. so which one is the most recent bootchart2 and maybe we can clean this (naming, moving, whatever) to make it clearer? thanks georg [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=51576 [2] https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/bootchart/

This is mostly OK but not only users of DE's are affected. Its pretty much everyone but at least a mention on DM's should be added as well. [arch-general] Btrfs snapshots for upgrade operations

Hello all, Firstly can a TU or developer few it to the dev mailing list, as I don't have access. Archlinux is supporting btrfs for root filesystem some time now. Have any work or thoughts been done for supporting snapshots before update packages? This way you can keep record of what's happening to your system and easily rollback if something breaks. I know Fedora and Suse (if not mistaken) supports that with their package managers. Of course I am talking about an optional feature enabled only from the user, not by default. Thoughts, ideas, discussion are welcome. Regards Leonidas

Hello.I'm a new users of Archlinux but using Ubuntu for 3 years. I have installed all the system following the guide of beginner's guide. and I found I could not ping to google after I reboot my computer however just as 5 minutes before I had just used pacman to install all the packages i needed. and then I use “systemctl enable dhcpcd@ ” hoping to reset the Internet connection but the shell tells me“ Fail to issue method call:Read-only file system” Does anyone know what's the problem? Thank you!

I've never seen this warning message before and as far as I know this isn't possible, as I only pull packages from core, community, and multilib. I have built some local aur packages, espeak development version, dropbox, dropbox daemon, and mangler. THis could be the cause, although I'm not sure how to find out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. i'm beginning to really love arch, especially without pulseaudio. One final note: I have the linux-lts package installed as opposed to the latest 3.6.x kernel, as speakup is broken in kernels later tahn 3.4. Thanks Kendell clark

It has been released as stable since 2012-08-21 (over two months ago) http://httpd.apache.org/ and flagged out of date since mid September (over a month ago), and I've e-mailed the maintainer offering to help update if they're busy, yet I get no response. I would have imagined that something as big as Apache httpd would be updated far more frequently, at least in testing, and there are lots of new features 2.4 brings to the table - http://httpd.apache.org/docs/trunk/new_features_2_4.html James Cleveland
