Hi! Yesterday I read on Phoronix that Arch devs are planning to switch to SystemD, but many users are unhappy with this move. You can see a lot of controversy discussion on this list. Well, Tom gave the answer. Boot on rescue-CD / rescue USB-key. Remove /lib. And create a symlink : ln -sf /usr/lib lib I think there will be a lot of problem for a lot of users when glibc 2.16.0-x will be uploaded on core. Well, I think I have to do this mistake. Dear list, I have spent now many hours trying to understand why pulseaudio is not working when I boot with systemd, but works when booting with sysvinit. I found the culprit could be this: [gabx@magnolia:~]$ aplay -l aplay: device_list:252: no soundcards found... Some sound system specific GStreamer package maybe missing. It may also be a permissions problem. To sum up, I don't understand why my sound devices are not recognized. I may have misconfigured something in systemd set up, but I have no idea. Thank you for your help, as this is the only issue when booting with systemd.

[arch-general] Raid 1 array with mismatched blocks

I have 2 usb disks that are part of a raid 1 array and after checking the array for consistency the mismatch count is not zero. >From all I could find by searching the internet this could be due to disk failure (not the case), or because of user mistake (most probable). In this case one can either blindly repair/resync the array and hope for the best or try to get the correct data before the resync. My doubt here is what would be the best way to access each disk individually (it's raid 1 so it should not be hard) and allow me to copy the correct data, sync the array and write back the correct data. I was thinking about something along the lines of connecting only one disk at a time, issue 'mdadm -R -o /dev/md0' to avoid any more changes between disks, mount the filesystem and check if the files are ok or not. If it helps, I do have a md5sum of all files and I know which files I have written that may not be consistent across disks. -- Mauro Santos

Dear list, I am able to boot with systemd. For now, I am still using the mixed systemd installation, until everything is clear. The only issue is with pulseaudio. $ journalctl returns [pulseaudio] module-equalizer-sink.c: resume state exists but is wrong size! I am on XFCE4, and when I start mixer, i have this error: GStreamer was unable to detect any sound device.Some sound system specific Gstreamer packages maybe missing. It may also be a permission problem. In /var/log/errors, I find these entries: localhost pulseaudio[29270]: [pulseaudio] module-equalizer-sink.c: resume state exists but is wrong size! localhost login: pam_systemd(login:session): Failed to release session: Connection was disconnected before a reply was received My music player (ncmpcpp with mpd) is indeed playing music, and I can control volume with the +/- keys. [arch-general] Is Nouveau 2D or 3D acceleration driver for nVidia cards?

The description of package xf86-video-nouveau ( http://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/xf86-video-nouveau) is "Open Source 2D acceleration driver for nVidia cards", but Arch Wiki( https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nouveau) says that it is "Open Source 3D acceleration graphics driver for NVIDIA cards". Is there any mistakes?

Updating xf86-video-intel to 2.20.5 today results in my DRM driver hanging when I try to use compiz. Has anyone else seen this, or am I just lucky with my hardware configuration? [arch-general] iptables forward policy

Good day, I'm currently configuring a router. I'm setting the default policies to DROP in the INPUT OUTPUT AND FORWARD chains. I'm thinking of setting the default FORWARD policy to ACCEPT as my default INPUT policy is DROP and unless there is a valid FORWARD rule for a given port the packets wont go anywhere. I'm I right on this? or could someone deliberately setup a packet to be forwarded from my router to my lan? all I could find on google was one similar question with no answer :( Thanks

Hi guys, 3.5.x is not yet ready to move to [core], - ext4 regression is not fixed yet, will be fixed in 3.5.3 - watchdogs are completely broken I'm not sure how much of a showstopper the watchdogs are, so please shout out if this is a real problem.
