Today's thunderbird upgrade broke sequoia-octopus-librnp (universe), it might be octopus just requires a new build with up to date sys libraries, or that a new octopus librnp version is required. For now, keeping thunderbird on 91.8.1-1, not allowing it to upgrade is a workaround. -- Javier

I don't know what is the best place to ask the following question, if here, in the Arch forums (which ?) or in the X.org mailing list. I will ask here first. I am open to suggestions. I have two Arch desktops. Desktop #1: MSI motherboard, Nvidia graphics with proprietary driver, Xfce on top of openbox. Desktop #2: Dell, Intel graphics, Xfce on top of openbox. If I run strace <GUI app> where <GUI app> could be for example Mousepad or Emacs, and move the mouse I get lots of stuff in the trace in both desktops. In desktop #1 however most of trace consists of calls to clock_gettime. This seems weird to me. In the excerpt below which shows both seconds and nano seconds, in the same second there are lots of messages. Why? As far as I know there is nothing wrong with the clock, and there is no special X configuration, so why does one desktop shows calls to clock_gettime and the other not? Greetings, I got an error message from pacman this morning: -> Could not find all required packages: nvidia-utils=510.68.02 (Wanted by: nvidia-lts) According to <https://archlinux.org/packages/?sort=&q=nvidia-utils>, that version of nvidia-utils is still in Testing. [arch-general] any IEEE 802.11ax wifi 6 USB devices supported by gnu+linux (even external dkms)?

I’m looking for upgrading to wifi 6 (802.11ax), but I’m not able to find gnu+linux supported usb devices. WPA3 seems a winner, and the fact devices don’t interfere with each others (at least not as much as wifi 5 and lesser), plus better signal spectrum, and perhaps getting where it was harder before, then I’m willing to upgrade, however, it seems only ms-windows and maybe some mac supported, usb devices can be found. Could it be it’ll take even further to get them into gnu+linux? Thanks ! -- Javier

Hello ! On a laptop with dual GPU, I'm able to disable nvdia, following instructions under [1], though I'm thinking that was not necessary, since I'm using early kms with intel [2]: > % grep i915 /etc/mkinitcpio.conf > MODULES=(i915) And I don't use the xf86-video-* Xorg drivers, since I prefer the glamor Xorg ones: > [ 94.997] (II) modeset(0): glamor X acceleration enabled on Mesa Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630 (CFL GT2) Now, I noticed grub is actually using the nvdia gpu, because it doesn't support specifying GRUB_GFXMODE to "auto", neither "1920x1080x32", well, it doesn't complain, but the resolution I get for any is terrible, and when I disable the framebuffer [3]: > # Uncomment to disable graphical terminal > #GRUB_TERMINAL_OUTPUT=console I do get the right resolution, though I totally lose my background image, which is sad. But it's not only aesthetics, it seems, at times, when loading the initrd image on boot, the system freezes, and there's no alternative than a hard boot, which might be related. I do have an /e/ account with caldav+cardav+mail service, and I have the external ics/ical web calendars subscribed in there, however, as mentioned, when korganizer does the sync with the caldav service, it doesn't bring any of the subscribed ics/ical calendars into the /e/ caldav service. That would be cool, though such ecosystem is not available on the desktop, and actually kontact (kde-pim) with kmail+korganizer+kcontact+kleopatra+... is what comes closer... It would be different if there was a way to tell Pacman by configuration to assume that these dependencies are covered, but as far as I know it is not possible. And while it is true that you can pass the `--assume-installed` option to it, but that must always be done at run time and if you have a high number of dummy dependencies it can be messy.
