Glibc 2.37 is about to be released to [testing]. Please be aware that any package that links against the 2.37 libc has to stay in testing for as long as glibc stays there. Otherwise breakage will be imminent. Best regards, Frederik

TU contact emails?

Hello, So I have noticed every TU gets given their own @archlinux.org email address, but I am unsure what are the conventions when it comes to contacting TU members. Some TUs still use their personal emails a lot (especially within the mailing lists), so how am I meant to know which email to email, either the @archlinux.org email or their personal email when it comes to contacting them about arch-related issues? Why does new php conflict with older php-intl packages? Workaround?

All, I have a requirement for an older version of php for a groupware package that isn't yet updated. The last system update to php8.2 created a new conflict with php-intl. Why? and how best to work around the new conflict? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

State of Netbeans package

Hello everyone, I'm using NetBeans as IDE for Java development. In the past, the NetBeans package in Arch Linux was updated soon after the NetBeans project published a new release. But now the NetBeans package is flagged as out-of-date since September. But there are no bugs in the bug tracker that show that there are technical issues which prevent an update. Is there of lack of resources on the side of the maintainer, or what is the reason that the package hasn't been updated yet? Because if the package will not be updated in the near future, I may either switch to the AUR package, or to download NetBeans directly from Apache. Unfortunately, I don't have any experience yet with creating packages for Arch Linux. If I had already some experience with building packages for Arch Linux, I may would be interested in supporting the maintainers of the NetBeans package, or even taking over the maintainer role for the package if the package is looking for a new maintainer. But I'm also not sure if I have the time resources for maintaining such a package. Best, Jens

Network Bridge - Do not pass back to router

Hello, So my current setup on my server is a network bridge (br0) with a physical interface as a slave to the bridge. I deploy lxc containers using the bridge, it is not a NAT bridge, and thus DHCP is used to lease an address from the physical router in which the server is connected to. My issue is, each LXC container can communicate with one another over the bridge, this means as I have an Arch mirror in a container, I can pull packages close to the SATA limit (just under 6gbps). However when the host wants to pull from the Arch mirror, it passes back to the router and then back to the server then to the bridge to the LXC container. I am not very experienced with virtual interfaces, but I would like the server to stop wasting router resources passing packets back to the router just to be passed back into itself. Meshroom: Strange rendering problem in save dialog

Hello, when I want to save sth. in meshroom, there's a strange rendering problem: I can see changes only after switching to another workspace and back again, effectively causing re-rendering of the screen. As I don't have this behaviour with other file dialogs, I'd guess there's some problem with meshroom or one of the Python libraries? Kind regards, Peter

Unofficial arch ports within the ArchWiki?

Hello, I was looking at Arch Linux Arm's (ALARM) website and I realised, a lot of their support just points right back to the ArchWiki. I thought the ArchWiki was only designed for the official distribution (Arch Linux) and not any other ports for other architectures? Arch / Manjaro friendly wifi dongle

I have just moved to a house where I can't get an Ethernet connection to the broadband 'modem' so I need to finally adopt a wifi setup to connect my two desktops and random Raspberry Pi and Arduinos to the 'modem' & the internet. That raises two problems: I don't know anything about wifi except for my Acer Nitro 5 just asked for a password then worked. The only brand of wifi hardware sold by any of the local shops is TP-Link brand. I have one of their Archer T3U AC1300 dongles that is listed as might work. I tried to build it on the laptop with aur but the package errors with 'ERROR: Missing xxx kernel headers for module rtl88x2bu/5.13.1r179.a2ac3b2' where xxx is one of a list including sys, srv, boot, home, etc, bin, rootfs-pkgs.txt, desktopfs-pkgs.txt, run, usr, lib, dev, lost+found, lib64, tmp, opt, proc, mnt, sbin, var, root I tried to build the driver on the desktop but makepkg immediately crashed because I have no internet connection. The laptop is 6 months more up-to-date than the desktops that have been in storage. What I'm looking for is 1. a way to build the driver for the Archer T3U and/or 2. the make/model of a dongle that will work and/or 3. other options? I have tried Ether of Power setup but the basement my daughter has relegated me to is on a different circuit to the rest of the house. please help mick in the dungeon

There are two packages bandaiding this, AUR hylafaxplus and the custom patched version for libtiff at: https://gitlab.com/libtiff/libtiff/-/issues/504#note_1229203232 with an upcoming new release for hylafax+ on sourceforge that resolves the issue with the exports removed from libtiff. My issue is I need the setup for the last hylafax packaged by Arch to prevent configuration issues. How can I get a copy of the last source package for hylafax? The forum post from 2009, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=164759 is out of date after the move to gitlab.
