The idea of this patch is allow to the dev's who have an account, to change their data without asking some admin to do it for them. Hi everybody, unfortunately today a new root exploit appeared. Look at: http://sota.gen.nz/compat2/ After some tests I can say: It works on Archlinux and Ubuntu, but not on debian. The "bugfix" found on http://seclists.org/fulldisclosure/2010/Sep/273 does not work on Arch and Ubuntu. The only current fix is to patch the kernel. allspark and me built new versions of the current Arch-kernel and the LTS-kernel. When I am compiling the kernel (in the chroot). My -j4 makeflag is getting lost. Is this expected?

Hello, Joe, I also noticed problems with the new release of E17 at my 32bit Arch. It seems, that there was some change upstream that broke compatibility with older themes/backgrounds/icons, so that they are listed in selections dialogs, but are not loaded. Rebuilding the e17-backgrounds, e17-icons and e17-themes packages from the AUR partially solves the problem, as more themes/backgrounds/icons can now be loaded, some still remains broken though. I've also seen the resolution being reset to default, but in my case the switch to desired one was flawless and logout succeeded (OSS ati drivers). I have two arch systems I use regularly. On my home system, most recently installed, I have a rather simple and stylish volume indicator. On my other system I have an uglier, rather gaudy indicator (screenshot attached). I've completely forgotten what I did, so I don't know how to get the simple one back again. Hello all, A short while ago, I posted this topic: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=104651 Through here, I'm hoping to reach some more willing archers to assist in the updating of some keystone wiki articles. The bullet points: the changes that accompanied xorg 1.8.x have not been reflected in several important articles on the wiki: 1. The Beginner's Guide, specifically this section: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners'_Guide#Step_2:_Install_X 2. The evdev article, specifically all mentioning of HAL policies (which are ignored as of 1.8.x: http://www.archlinux.org/news/502/) and the possible merge with the xorg article 3. in a less important way: Nvidia, ATI and the Synaptics article (which I am rewriting currently) The discussion page for the BG is filled with good intent since december 2009, as is the topic on the forums... But fact remains that the documentation is falling behind. I'm hoping to motivate one or several to help out in having a good look around our wiki so that we may keep our documentation on this as bleeding edge as our OS :) Out with the old, in with the new and all that. -Stefan p.s. of course these are suggestions, if any here has a better approach please do reply
