Tobias, All, Just dropping a note to say that kernel26-2.6.35.2-1-x86_64 works fine on my box-from-hell that had the hardlock on boot problems with 2.6.34. Compiz works, Virtualbox works, so it looks good. (I'm on my test drive and my mail is on the drive I just took out, so sorry I couldn't simply reply to the [signoff] thread...) -- David C. Before entering X, I saw such error message since last git update: /etc/bash_completion.d/git: line 123: syntax error near unexpected token `<' /etc/bash_completion.d/git: line 123: ` done < <(git config -z --get-regexp '^(svn-remote\..*\.url|bash\.showupstream)$' 2>/dev/null | tr '\0\n' '\n ')' (also in ~/.xsession-errors i suppose.) $ pacman -Qo /etc/bash_completion.d/git /etc/bash_completion.d/git is owned by git 1.7.2.1-1 I don't use git much but a little not comfortable seeing this. [arch-general] my intro

I install chris brannon's talking arch linux a little earlier this weekend. It was not the first Linux I've installed either. I use the talking version since I can't see anything at all. For as small a Linux as this is it's impressive. We need a foomatic-rip package though because my parallel printer probably won't work well otherwise and that makes it difficult for those helping me shop to read my grocery lists. I have already built and got astrolog running on archlinux and for free accurate horoscopes that's a good choice. I could probably package it for this Linux if there's enough interest. Another problem probably of interest to a larger audience is no command line spreadsheet programs are yet available. I can probably put some things together for that too. I'll definitely do that for myself and again if there's enough interest I can probably build something and make it available. I do use orca and gnome a little, but the graphical user environment isn't my normal living space while at home. I'm required to use Windows at work so I figure while I'm at home I get to choose my operating systems and my operating system interfaces. I don't want the two environments getting confused with each other.

[arch-general] Help with backtrace from kcmshell crash - changing icons.

Guys, I have a problem with kdemod3. It is really still in quite fantastic shape. When I try to switch icons to the 'iceglass' icons theme (or Azenis theme, etc..) kcmshell crashes starting with ? "strlen() from /lib/libc.so.6" ?? Hopefully it isn't something like the std c libraries now being incompatible with kcmshell?? I'm guessing that there is something in the icon file like an extra space or a long filename that is causing Appearance -> Icons (change theme). The crash occurs the moment I click on the theme to get a preview, so it might be something related to the preview and not the icon set itself. I have used this save icon theme with kde3 many times on SuSE, so I guess some file has been patched to get around whatever is causing this to choke. My immediate problem is I suck at reading backtraces. Can you help a brother out and give it a once-over and see if a specific file or problem stands out? If I can figure out what package started the crash, I can go look for an update or patch in AUR or with google generally. But I can't tell what package to start looking for. Thanks. Hello, I am the maintainer of eclipse-android (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=14544) One of the dependancies is eclipse-classic (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=32314) (v3.5 as opposed to 3.6 in the main repos) which is NOT maintained by me. There are several issues with this PKGBUILD including being out of date, not having a working build(), and not offering a correct provides array. The first of which was brought to the current maintainers attention back on May 13th, and he hasn't touched it since. I am willing to adopt this package as soon as orphaned. I changed the plasma desktop behavior to show application launcher menu on right click.
