[arch-general] Opera Segfaults on x86_64 after kernel update

Listmates, After the kernel update to kernel26 2.6.29.3-1, opera is segfaulting for some reason. Opera doesn't event splash anything on the screen, it just dies. Here is what I get from the cli: 23:28 alchemy:~> opera -debugxerror opera: X Error: BadAtom (invalid Atom parameter) 5 Major opcode: 20 Minor opcode: 0 Resource id: 0 I have no idea what a BadAtom is or if that is the problem. I haven't run across anything else in the past hour since the update. What should I check? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. Hi, Finally, the new vi* packages are up. There will be a little migration pain. For optimal results, I recommend to "sudo rm /usr/bin/{view/rview}" before you run "sudo pacman -Syu" -T

The descrease in size you are reffering to is more or less correct. My local rsynced tree is 1.6Gb with .xz while it was around 2.0Gb with .tgz. The gain should be 20-25% from what i can estimate. -- Greg

[arch-general] Gnome - Nautilus and Evolution, Fresh Install

I have just completed a new install using the latest Install/Live CD 2009.02 I followed the Beginners Guide (exactly :) including the update. I continued until I finished with install Xorg and Gnome. After setting up .xinitrc to run Gnome I issued a startx to start Xorg and Gnome. 1. When clicking the "Users home dir icon" to launch Nautilus and browsing to test it, I then clicked the "X" to stop the app from running ( upper right on the window ) Nautilus crashed and Gnome restarted, cleared the desktop (refreshed) and generated a bug report to be set to gnome.org (via bug buddy). 2. After installing Evolution ans running the app I made some errors when I initially set it up for my imap server. Clicking/running from the Edit->Preferences menu caused evolution to crash and generating a bug report. I can not use the Edit->Preferences menu at all, making the evolution installation worthless as I can not change any settings. How stable is Gnome on Arch Linux? I need to move from KDE3 to Gnome until KDE4 is finished and debugged. Comments/Fixes Anyone? Thanks

Hi all, It's me or the mysql package don't come with man pages? I guess that would be good to have manpages for stuff like mysqlcheck, mysqldump, mysqlshow... I have done a new install using the 2009-02 install cd Then sync and updated the system with pacman install alsa and the xorg I have installed hal and it is running When I start xorg I get no "X" on the screen. Thanks
