Hi, I am unable to see the ttys immediately after starting X. Neither the original tty from which X was started nor the other unused ones seem to be visible. I have an Nvidia graphics card and I have tried using both the nouveau as well as the proprietary nvidia driver - but neither seem to work. I had faced this problem earlier with nouveau but the nvidia driver used to work perfectly fine. [arch-general] Issues with kernel-rt, at least using Arch Linux

Hi :) this is very strange. A regular kernel doesn't cause xruns, but a kernel-rt does always cause xruns, when running jack_midi_latency_test. Because the proprietary nvidia driver doesn't work on my machine, when using a kernel-rt, what ever trick I try, I tested the nouveau driver. The nouveau driver does cause xruns for my RME card, but is ok with a TerraTec card. I switched to the nv driver and still get xruns for the RME card and the TerraTec card completely fails the test using a kernel-rt. When I repeat the test with a regular kernel, while using the proprietary nvidia driver, the RME card passes the test without xruns and the TerraTec card also is ok. The only idea I've got is to compile a full preempt kernel, boot it with threadirqs and to use the proprietary nvidia driver, but I would prefer to use a kernel-rt. Any hints are welcome. [arch-general] LXC Containers

I'm trying to setup my first LXC containers. I've managed to bootstrap an Arch container, but can't login to it even after manually adding a password to root in it's shadow file. I've also tried using /usr/lib/lxc/templates/lxc-ubuntu to setup an Ubuntu container. That seems to always return E: Invalid Release file, no entry for main/binary-x86_64/Packages no matter which release I try. Does anyone happen to know how to solve one or both of these problems? [arch-general] Problem with radeon driver

Hello all, Yesterday I wanted to update my IBM R51. Since this hadn't seen any updates for half a year or so I decided to go for a full install, also to try out the new install procedures. This all went very smoothly, and there's only one remaining problem. X11 seems to work, but - GUI elements (e.g. buttons) remain black or some random texture. - Xterm has problems when scrolling - lines get overprinted, or only some rows of pixels show up. When hitting Enter on the bottom line the bash prompt isn't printed, but the cursor moves to the right place. Same for filename completion etc. - Similar problems all over the place. Driver is video-ati aka radeon. No xorg.conf, and using the one installed before makes no difference. Also added 20-radeon.conf as explained in the wiki and modified individual options, no improvement. No errors in Xorg.0.log. Hi, I noticed I'm getting a [FAIL] message for SIGTERM on system shutdown[0], how can I debug it? I already checked /var/log but found nothing :( [0] Some additional info: SIGKILL do the job (so the system shutdowns/reboot after a few seconds) and on the next boot everything is clean.

Hello, I'm trying to get Recoll to index either tar or tar.gz files without success. Per the instructions on Recoll's website I added the filter rcltar to the filters folder and modified my mimeconf file to include the following line: application/x-tar = execm rcltar Nothing works. It doesn't find text that is included in any tar or tar.gz file. It will work correctly on other compressed file formats such as zip and rar. Just not tar or tar.gz. Is there anyone else here that uses Recoll on tar or tar.gz files? If so, what's your secret? Thanks, Randy
