Hey hey, this is a strange error. I tried installing perl-event, an AUR package with trizen: trizen -Sy perl-event The package downloads, comiles and tests, as far as I can see and finally fails with: :: Unable to find a built tarball for perl-event (below is the full output of the command) Does anyone have an idea how to fix this? Is this an issue that might occasionally arise? [arch-general] openssl 3 -- status?

Be terrific if someone could provide an update on where things stand for arch migration to Openssl 3? We're coming up on the 1 year anniversary of openssl 3 with 3.0.4 released last week. As I recall there was some work happening to ensure things continue to work properly. My loose understanding is that openssl 3 has ABI changes but the API changes seem to be quite limited. The arch tracker site [1] shows 26 core packages as incomplete - though it's bit unclear from the site what the actual problems are. It also shows many many other packages similarly "incomplete" Fedora 36, which was released May 10 this year is, I believe, built against openssl 3. This at least strongly suggests that most "normal" packages work fine with rebuild of recent versions. We always have recent versions :) Taking a couple of examples from the tracker page [1]: 1) openssh shows the current version as incomplete. The openssh docs suggest openssl 3 support was made available in version 8.1p1 while it was still in dev. 2) cryptsetup - seems to be compatible as of 2.4.0. current version is 2.4.3). Hello, I would like to help Gnome Text Editor developers to cross-compile it for Windows within their CI: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-text-editor/-/issues/149 This might help attract Windows users to Gnome/Linux... I was looking for a Linux distro that has a solid Mingw-w64 library collection to use as docker image in CI. Fedora doesn't have mingw-w64-gtk4 while Arch does, so I decided to use the latter. Dear Arch package maintainers, may I ask you to, please, package the most recent version of mingw-w64-gtksourceview5 and mingw-w64-libadwaita so I can go ahead? [arch-general] pacman Segfault on full system update

I have an Arch guest in VirtualBox running on an Arch server. I installed virtualbox-bin 1-34-2 from AUR with 5.18 patch and the install on the host went fine. I access the guest headless using rdesktop over the LAN. (have done so for years). Doing a full system update from 5.17.7 to 5.18.6 (about 25 days of updates) on guest. Pacman segfaulted leaving post transaction hooks unrun. I reinstalled the kernel and systemd to force the initrd to be made so the guest is bootable. However, I'm not sure what additional hooks were missed. The guest window when X is started is 1440 x 864 but the only portion of the desktop shown is 1024 x 768 (rest is black and not shown, taskbar unable to be seen, etc.) After the pacman segfault, now the console is also missing the last 7-8 lines. I have to hit clear and start over at the top to see what I'm typing. How can I recover this system? I was able to rsync the last 1000 lines of pacman.log from the guest to the host, but the shared folders no longer work. So after all of this manual running, I can start the VM and log in as user or root, but I'm not sure what got missed? Is there any way to know what hooks remain unrun or what packages the system thinks were installed but that were not actually installed? Why does X and the console only show 1024 x 768 of the guest even though the window (which is normally filled with the VM) is 1440 x 864? What do I need to look at/test to determine what shape my install is in? Sorry for the long post, but without the logs, it would have been impossible to explain what happened or where it happened in the upgrade process. Folks: I'm attempting to use popa3d to handle POP3 on my box for my home network. The authors assume you will be running an init.d system, but obviously, I'm running systemd. Does anyone know how to set this up with systemd so it will run without simply terminating. I've set up a system user called "popa3d" to satisfy a getpwnam() error generated by systemd, and I have a service file as follows: [Unit] Description=POP3 Daemon [Service] ExecStart=/usr/sbin/popa3d -D User=root [Install] WantedBy=multi-user.target Any help would be appreciated. Got the latest samba 4.16.1-4 and had part way expected the fix for: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15062 To be included. I guess samba will wait for the next minor version number release to include it. However, I noticed the packager had cherry picked a gnome print fix and wondered if you could cherry pick the [homes] fix also. [arch-general] konsole updated to handle the ANSI d & f escapes used by pacman current/total lines

Just a follow up note, The konsole code was updated to handle the new line escapes that gave me issues when the new escapes were added to pacman. All displays fine, but it would still be nice to have a switch to turn the additional display off. I don't use the total info, just doesn't provide anything that meaningful to use while an update is being applied. Something like --nototal would do. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

Hi folks, A few days ago a request was made to merge revolt into revolt-desktop in AUR. At that time I already explained[1] that these were different packages and that the merger did not make sense. Three days ago Morten Linderud finally approved the merger of the packages despite the two being different. I have tried to contact him explaining why these packages should not be merged but I have not received a response. But these are completely different packages: Revolt[1] is an application written in Python (using PyGObject with GTK and WebKit) which wraps Element[2] in a fancy desktop environment integration. Revolt not is new, has been under development for several years and the first commit dates back to 2016[3]. revolt-desktop[4] (it's the first time I've heard of it, to be honest) is what appears to be a client of your own service revolt-chat[5]. It is something quite recent, its first commit dates back to 2021[6]. As you can see, we are really talking about two different applications that, although they are both instant messaging clients, have nothing to do with each other. On the other hand, in case of a name conflict, this would be caused by revolt-chat, being a much more recent application than revolt. Therefore I ask you to please consider this merger and revert the changes so that we can continue working with the revolt package in AUR. Thank you very much in advance. Am I right the new -debug packages do not depend, pacman wise, on their binary, non -debug packages? By that I mean pacman --upgrade somepkg-debug will sucsseed even when somepkg is not installed. Such dependency looks to me obvoius. Why was it decided not to have it? -- u34
