Hi fellow-archers, I have two packages, A and B, which both provide the same file X. Is there a way to tell pacman to ignore file X in package B, so it is installed (and updated) solely with A? My current ideas are: * repackage B (the official package), so it does not include X anymore -> tedious, feels unnecessary * change packaging of A (unofficial package), so X is now called Y -> this will break a lot of configs, because X is hooked up in many places -> I'd like to avoid this option * tell pacman to ignore X in package B (something like NoExtract - but except, that it is package specific and that it works as I need it ;-p) regards, Erich

A possible patch to apply to gnome-shell-extensions in extra-testing?

Hello. I'm currently using Gnome 45 grabbed from extra-testing repository and the only bug I'm facing is that removable-drive-menu icon is not loaded. This bug is known and fixed in git. Could the patch - https://gitlab.gnome.org/fmuellner/gnome-shell-extensions/-/commit/092b2688… - be added to gnome-shell-extensions in extra-testing until a new release of this software is available? Issues with Electron Apps

When I start electron apps I run into an error with a shared library from dav1d. Does anyone else run into this issue? ❯ electron /usr/lib/electron25/electron: error while loading shared libraries: libdav1d.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I get the error when starting an electron app itself (e.g. obsidian) or the electron command. Electron seems to link to an old version of the library: ❯ pacman -F libdav1d.so.6 ❯ pacman -F libdav1d.so.7 extra/dav1d 1.3.0-1 [installed] usr/lib/libdav1d.so.7 I tried reinstalling obsidian, electron(25), and dav1d. So my suspicion is that electron was not rebuilt for the new dav1d version. Possibly causing a problem for all election versions. Is there another package I should try reinstalling? Christian

How to enable opencl?

Hi. Follow at the end debug about opencl on darktable software. Why opencl is NOT AVAILABLE and NOT ENABLED? How can I add it? I've got a Lenovo Yoga7i. Nextcloud 27.1.2 Update - /etc/webapps/nextcloud/.htaccess.pacnew - triggers new Admin Overview Warning

All, The new update for Nextcloud 27.1.2 causes a new Admin Warning when the new .htaccess files is incorporated. After the update and after 'occ maintenance:update:htaccess' the following warning is triggered in the Administrative Settings Overview check that runs: There are some warnings regarding your setup. Your web server is not properly set up to resolve "/nextcloud/ocm-provider/". This is most likely related to a web server configuration that was not updated to deliver this folder directly. Please compare your configuration against the shipped rewrite rules in ".htaccess" for Apache or the provided one in the documentation for Nginx at it's documentation page ↗. On Nginx those are typically the lines starting with "location ~" that need an update. The problem seems to surround the line: RewriteRule ^ocm-provider/?$ /index.php [QSA,L] which is present in the .htaccess.pacnew, but not present in the original .htaccess. Restoring the original .htaccess fixes the issue immediately resulting in "All checks passed" Since the line "RewriteRule ^ocm-provider/?$ /index.php [QSA,L]" is above the comment stating: #### DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ABOVE THIS LINE #### Is this an issue with the update package that needs to be fixed? I generally try to incorporate all .pacnew configs (at least go through them and migrate any changes). There are a number of changes in the new .htaccess.pacnew file above the comment line, so that leaves me questioning whether my current .htaccess is optimal even though the overview checks show "All checks passed". -- David C. archinstall mystery

I used it earlier since I couldn't make sense of the efi and uefi encyclopedias in the Installation-guide. I now have a disk with two partitions on it first one being fat32 esp. The machine is uefi 64 capable. For that reason I can't figure out how to run grub-install on the latest update of grub. Does archinstall install for bios by default? If so, I think I can have grub-install ignore platform and install in /boot/grub with a couple options. Hi, to have a wider choice of media players I installed deepin-movie and deepin-music a long time ago, some dependencies were required, hence I had the following Deepin related packages installed: deepin-desktop-base deepin-movie deepin-music deepin-qt-dbus-factory deepin-qt5integration deepin-qt5platform-plugins dtkgui dtkwidget An obsolete package I already removed earlier was originally also installed: deepin-wayland IMO this is a reasonable amount of dependencies. When I tried to upgrade my Arch install today, by running sudo pacman -Syu this happens: :: There are 2 providers available for DEEPIN-ANYTHING-MODULE: :: Repository extra 1) deepin-anything-arch 2) deepin-anything-dkms Media players require a kernel module? So I'm going to pretend that I'm okay with that. This is what happens [1]. Those two media player that were installed a long time ago together with the required dependencies now pull in a complete desktop environment including a file-manager, wallpapers etc.. It seems a bit dubious to me, hence I removed the Deepin stuff from my machine. Am I being overly suspicious? I'm interested in opinions. Yes, I agree with Dee - even with a second webserver as a frontend proxy (I recommend nginx), it's not like doing twice the work - the heavy lifting will be done in the container. There are some small overheads in CPU, a bit more in RAM, and then maybe storage is the most noticeable, but probably nothing compared to what NextCloud is using anyway. Paul

Any though of having archlinux-keyring-wkd-sync check for iptables and recommend rule?

Archdevs, Depending on how restrictive the iptables rules, if the IP for archlinux-keyring-wkd-sync falls into a blocked range, the logs quickly fill. An idea is to have the service insert a temporary rule to either (1) allow the IP for the sync check, or (2) allow established, related connections while the service runs. It may also be worth updating the wiki to provide model rules for iptables/nftables to allow archlinux-keyring-wkd-sync to run successfully. Just food for thought. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
